  1. I have a 01 raptor and recently had to bore it out to a 686 because it sucked in a bunch of sand. Now I have no torque or power in the first third of the throttle. I am hoping that someone else knows what is going on with it
  2. Ok everyone, I've been rebuilding the top end of my vinson 500 and here is my problem. After replacing all the gaskets and getting my timing set I was all set to place the head on when I realized I had left one of the two small sleeves that position the cylinder head on the base. To go back and put it in would require another complete tear down. This is one of those round cylindrical tubes that the jug sits on. All bolts are in along with Indian head gasket shellac on both sides of the gasket, my question is what might it hurt if I don't put it back in? Honestly I can't see where it will matter and setting the timing on this machine is a real bi***. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I've taken the rocker cover off the motor I see that the timing chain goes all the way down to the crank how can I take the top end up with the chain well I need special tools and what with the torques specs be. I appreciate any input I can get
  4. Just rebuilt the top end on my 08 big bear 400. Piston rings wristpin gaskets. Got it back together it runs no back firing or popping but it takes a lil long to idle down and every now and then it kinda burps or misses for a split second and not often either I guess and then recovers just fine. Could the timing be off a tooth and cause this or would it be backfiring and popping a lot? Any other ideas?
  5. Hey guys, Just got my new 500 HO a few months back and after a ride the other day there was major banging from the top end. Brought it to the dealer and they had a listen and said its coming from the top end. The mechanics hauled the engine out and had a look in and said that there was major scoring on the intake side of the cylinder and the piston was damaged causing "piston slap." The mechanics said they have never seen anything like this on a brand new quad. There is 400kms on my bike. The bike has never been drowned in water or any major incidents on it. Its basically lady driven. My 500 is under warranty for the fix but im trying to pin point what exactly when wrong to cause this. Upon further inspection of the bike, there was oil pooled up in the air box that mechanic said it could have been sucked up there from the bike being rolled over or being on a steep incline for too long. Which it never has. Ive been reading around and people were saying that a faulty oil pump could be a issue. Is there any way to prove this? Or to test that in fact that it is broken. Is there any other thing that could cause a top end to go on a new quad?! I'm boggled here. I'm worried that it will happened again after the dealer fixes my problem and I'll have to pay out of my own pocket. Thanks in advance!
  6. I have a 08 kingquad 750. Just put big gun exhaust, yellow secondary spring, 18 gram rollers, UNI air filter, dynatek fuel controller, new 27x10-12 vampires, and it's snorkeled. Still has some low end lag. All this helped but is there something else I could do? I heard about the vdi but the price is a lil high for me. Any help would be appreciated thanks
  7. Coming from front left tire, only when going forward, when in reverse no noise at all. Not a bearing I checked it all out, suppose just needs some grease? 2000 Big Bear 400 4x4.......
  8. Hey guys and gals, I aquired a 97 King Quad 300 from my dad, it has a few problems but seems to be an ok runner, so Im just trying to decide if its worth sinking a few dollars into or not. The problems it has are an intermittent electrical problem which I have shorted out, one front axle is really screwed near the tire (shouldnt be a problem fixing that) and only one rear tire spins. So my question is has any of you guys torn apart the rear end of these things? I had the quad lifte in the air, and the right hand side rear tire spins and there is a little resistance there (that is the one that works) but the left hand side spins really freely. So Im not familiar with these quads and axles at all, does this just sound like a matter of throwing a new axle in the rear end? Does it sound like something more, and something in the diff let go? Rear axles easy to pull or no? Ive checked out the diagram on cheapcycleparts, and to me it looks like there could be a lot that could go wrong inside. I plan on ripping the quad apart this winter and repairing the issues, but was hoping to get a little insight if anyone has had these rear ends apart. Thanks.
  9. i thought i had bent my back disk brake because the pads are making a grinding sound every quarter turn and the caliper was wobbleing so i took it off to replace it and it was not bent ..........could i had bent the actual caliper or was it knocked out of place ?.......are either of these possible if so witch is more likly?
  10. I have an '04 Kodiak and an '03 Foreman S. The manual for the Kodiak shows 0-.39 inch tow in, the Foreman manual shows a 3/4 - 1 1/2 inch tow out. I have noticed my tires wear like they are being torn. I have just put new tires on the front and would like to get this correct to get the longest life out of my tires while getting the best handling. It seems to me that the settings for the Kodiak and about what should be for the Foreman S to get the best wear and handling. I suspect the Foreman service manual is incorrect. Any help would be appreciated. Bill

  14. A blonde calls her boyfriend and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get it started." Her boyfriend asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?" The blonde says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a tiger." Her boyfriend decides to go over and help with the puzzle. She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table. He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says, "First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a tiger." He takes her hand and says, "Second, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then....."he sighed, . "let 's put all these Frosted Flakes back in the box.
  15. Was wondering if there was a rear end that was interchangeable with this ATV. I heard somewhere that the 350 foreman was, could anyone verify this for me.
  16. OK, I bought a blaster for my wife. It's in great shape but it falls flat early on top end. It seems the worst in 1st and 2nd gear. As you get up through the gears it seems to be a bit better. I have pulled the carb and cleaned it. It didn't help at all. Can anyone tell me what the stock jet sizes are? Also, what should the mixture settings be for a bone stock Blaster? I am at 5000 feet in New Mexico If anyone knows another reason, please speak up.
