Ive been crazy about quads and bikes since I was about 3 and ive always done my home work on them figuratively speaking. I would say for comparison to the common man that I am pretty knowledgeable about them. its been my passion about most of my life. I love talking about quads and bikes so if anyone out there would like to talk with me about mechanical subjects or about person experiences while riding or just shoot the breeze please feel free to chat with me. I'm looking forward to it.

I am going crazy trying to figure this one out. Recently snorkeled 700efi is overheating but I am inclined to think that the problem is not related to the snorkeling. My fan is no longer coming on. I checked the fuse and also the diode marked fan in the fuse box and found both to be OK. I checked the fan to make sure that it is working under normal conditions so I powered it directly from a battery and it works fine. I checked the continuity of the sensor and it works as well. Hooking a positive from an outside battery source to it. Once the temp got high enough the fan came on. I downloaded the wiring diagram from the forum and it indicates a diode in-line with the ground. Does anyone have experience with this?

Went for a ride today with some new tires and my bike is pretty dirty. I don't have a high temp light, but when I turn my key to on, my fan runs even with the engine off. What can cause this?

I have a 1995 Sportsman 300l. The cooling fan starts running as soon as you turn the ignition switch on and does will not shut off. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all, My Late 2004 Sportsman 500 fan runs with the ignition off and is not running to the normal speed. I had to disconnect the battery to shut off the fan. Looking at the wiring diagram it appears that the SSCB No. 1 is the only possible source of the issue. I assume this is also called the ECM but not possitive. Has anyone else seen this type of issue and is the SSCB need to be replaced or is there other items like dirty connections that may be the source of the issue. Thanks! Craig

I was running cat 500 at low speeds for about 25 minutes today, i mean very low 3-5mph then to zero back to 5 so on so on, and when I parked my radiator was bubblin over a bit and steaming with a little cooloant leaking from somewhere but not much. My question is about cooloing fan, i never hear it engage or running. My Honda you have to leave the key on for a few minutes to let the fan run before shutting down, but my Cat i cant find anything in owner man. except "keep it free of debris with hose". How do I know if cooling fan is operating properly, should i hear it after shutting down engine. Its a 2005 but i only have 252 miles on it. Any info would be of help and thank you to everyone for your help with carb and fuel overflow, there was dirt in carb, took apart and cleaned myself w/no prob now works great, even though i did not install in line fuel filter. Where do I get one? Thanks again!!

I believe my cooling fan switch has gone bad, the dash goes out except the over heating symbol flashes but the engine is not hot to the touch. So i used a jumper wire from hte accessory side of the ignition switch, so the fan runs if the key is on. A new switch is about $110.00. Has anyone else done this, will it be ok to run like this as long as i check for overheating manually? Or should I replace the switch?
