  2. Ok my 2009 Kawasaki brute force 750 4x4i is back firing & cutting out when excellerated and the engine is getting hot enough that it burns my leg through jeans and it feels like the exhaust is melting the fender and I can sometimes smell burning plastic. I checked the fan and it is fine, also pulled the fuel pump out and tested and cleaned it and it stopped back firing and cutting out but still runs hot but not showing the temp sensor indicator light on the dfi at all... I checked the plugs and cleaned gapped ect they are fine... radiator is clean and not stopped up, oil level good, injectors working property and clean..... I just don't know what else to do to it.... HELP!
  3. I have a 2012 425i and it is very uncomfortable on my right leg. Any one ever see a heat shield for one of these? I could just make something but thought I would ask 1st.
  4. hey guys i love the site! i need some help please i just purchased a 2003 grizzly installed a plow and winch, and while plowing ;last night my temp light kept coming on, the coolant is full and the fan is working i was wondering if anyones encountered this with these machines, i already ordered the updated side panels for more ventilation, i sthere a temp switch thats not putting the fan on at the right time? shoul i wire it direct? could the water pump be bad? any assistance would be greatly appreciated thank you. Dan
  5. I own a 1998 Honda 300ex The last two times I rode, probably for about an hour,I shut it off for ten or fifteen minutes and when I went to ride again it backfires and then stalls out. Also the motor seems incredibly hot. Then if I let it sit for a long time it starts and runs fine. Can anyone tell me what might be causing this and what will fix it? Thanks a lot!
  6. I have a 2009 Outlander Max LTD which I swamped a few weeks back. Went through the routine of draining everything and changing the oil & filter until I had everything flushed out and good clean oil. Now my machine fires up no problem when cold, does not appear to be burning any oil, no active P codes. After I ride for about an hour and everything is good and warm, when I shut the machine off and go to fire it up again, it turns over really hard like the battery is dead. It will start again after some coaxing. Then I can ride again no problem and it starts fine after I get it loaded, get back to town and unload. This has me worried that I am going to get stuck out in the woods with a problem machine. I suspect that maybe I have a scuffed piston or stuck rings? But before I go tearing down the engine and spending a bunch of cash, I was wondering if anyone out there has seen the same type of problem?
  7. I have a1992 polaris trailboss 350l that after I run the machine for awhile It will not idle, but when I let it sit it starts right up and idles. When I start it up first thing for the day it starts right up and idles it quits ideling when it gets warm any ideas or thoughts would be great.
  8. Hi I have a KFX450R 2008 model it has been great but I was riding the other day and I let off the throttle and it just died so I tried to start it back up and it would not start unless I gave it a little throttle and then would die again if I let completely off the throttle?? as soon as the machine cooled it will start fine without any throttle?? Keep in mind this is fuel injected so you shouldn't have to give it any throttle any help would be appreciated thanks.
  9. I have a 1999 polaris sportsman and it shuts off when it gets hot and will not restart till it completely cools. I have changed the coils and checked the plug and it gets no fire when hot. Any ideas?
  10. I want to thanks those in advance that help me out with this. Lately I've been having some running issues with this thing. When I first start it up, runs fine with no issues. I'll ride it for up to 5 minutes, and when nice and hot, idle begins to drop and eventually cuts off. Carb has been taken off a few times now to make sure things are clean, filter was cleaned, valves were adj as they were a little loose (when adj it actually took a bit longer to die). For some reason I can't get to the sparkplug...? What else, oh, petcock was replaced, and made sure fresh has was used. When I try to restart it will only start if I give it gas, and when I try to let it idle, it idles really low then cuts off. But once I let it cool down long enough, it will start up (off the choke) every time and idle, take it for another ride, and when up to operating temps or higher issue comes back. Juan
  11. I have an '06 Kawasaki Prairie 360 4x4. Three snorkels, 1 for intake and 2 for cvt. The bike runs great until the engine gets hot and then it wants to sputter when I give it gas at low RPM's. I just had the carb cleaned and adjusted. They fixed an idling problem and a misfiring problem. But still the same issue with sputtering when it's hot. If I remove the lid on the air box it actually cures the problem, so I thought at first there wasn't enough air in the mixture, but I have since tried to adjust the mixture and it will not adjust out the problem when it's hot. All that does is make it run bad the rest of the time when it's not hot. 2 1/2 turns out seems to be the best mixture, which is where they had it, so I put it back there. It runs great when it's cold, so I don't think mixture is the cause. If I hose the carburetor with cold water the problem goes away too. Vapor lock seems more likely the cause of what I'm experiencing. I need some tips on what works if anyone has had this problem and solved it. I fabricated a barrier between the carb and the engine and wrapped the exhaust with header wrap and the problem is less severe. I run the highest octane gas available, have not tried adding octane boost, but I read that it also helps. How about the carb heater? Should I disconnect the leads to that? I live in FL so I rarely have to worry about cold. Might try a small 2-5 psi electric fuel pump to keep the fuel pressurized all the way to the carb, that is supposed to work. This weekend I'm going to mimic a 3 psi pump and see if that will cure it. I have tried removing the fuel cap, that doesn't make a difference. It happens long before my fuel tank gets hot. The gas inside is not bubbling. after 10 minutes of hard riding it's hot enough to start sputtering. hose the carb for 3 seconds and it's fine. why do I always have these f'd up problems? lol I appreciate any tips. Thanks. Mike
  12. Ok so I bought the 05 brute force and after putting about 60miles on it I have some concerns. The engine seems to run REALLY HOT, like almost burnning my legs through my jeans hot but no warning light comes on and it doesnt seem to "act" hot is this normal, does it have any saftey feature to prevent over heating or heat damage? It also seems to have a slight miss, or hesitation? When you slightly crack the throttle open and hold it at a steady RPM to give it a slightly higher idle it will run smooth for a couple seconds then miss and sometimes backfires. It also seems to sometimes have a hesitation if you jump on the throttle, what could cause this? Also a couple times when shifting from reverse to high it sounded like it got hung up in between and there was a slight squeal as if maybe the belt was slipping and there was also a slight burning plastic of rubber smell. The belt IS new and it doesnt feel as if it is slipping when accelerating and the belt light hasnt come on. Anyone have any suggestions? It does seem to run really well and HARD accept for the slight hesitation or cough and the occasional backfire, I ran it up to 69MPH with both me and a buddy of mine on it, combined weight of almost 500lbs
  13. This is my first UTV, and it is getting too hot to drive. It is a Polaris Ranger 700XP and doesn't take long before it gets hot. I wore sandals while driving it the other day and my foot was extremely hot and uncomfortable. Feels like the motor isn't getting cooled off. Any suggestions... I need help so I can enjoy my toy.
  14. My 2005 650 Brute Force Is Running Hot The Fan Is On 75 Percent Of The Time Is That Normal? My Hot Light Was Flashing The Other Day When It Is Flashing Does That Mean "shut Down Now" Or Does It Come On Solid When Its Time To Shut Down The Motor? Thanks For Your Help John
