  1. hey guys, i just recently installed a wiseco piston that increases my compression from stock which is 9.0:1 to 10.5:1. I am wondering if i have to do any jetting work in the carb, if i should run any different plugs (colder or hotter than stock), what octane fuel you would recommend (im thinking 91 or higher), and also what would be the best way for breaking everything in... im thinking some extra information might be useful before i fire this thing up thanks for the help guys!
  2. I got a 1986 suzuki 230lts it has been sputtering and spiting when you add a a little throttle so i took apart the crab to look for crap, i found not a speck of dirt. BUT i found that the pilot screw was messing a few parts, the washer and the o-ring. would that cause it to sputter when a little throttle is applied, it almost feels like the breaks are dragging when you give it a little throttle. thanks for any imput!
  3. Ok so I got a great deal on a 230s apperently the motor was rebuilt but the guy didn't know how to put it back together.... Well the top end at least.... So I bought the book for it at the Suzuki dealership..... Now the bike has no airbox and no muffler, open carb and header, here's my problem, It has compression, it has spark, I timed it up twice, each time spinning the motor 360* cause it's a four stroke and I was trying to make sure that it was sparking during compression and not exhaust... Anyway there is fuel on the plug, if I hold the plug to the casing while it's unscrewed it sparks.... But it refuses to catch, the most I get is a backfire out the exhaust... In an act of desperation I towed it with a car while it was in gear to try and get it started.... The headers glowed red hot, but it would die out imeadiatly...... Any replies would be greatly appreciated.... Oh and I also sprayed starting fluid in it to try and make it catch and nothing....
  4. Hey guys hows it going? Im new to this site but not to motorcycles however I just bought a sport atv today and need to know how I find out what it is. It has a suzuki motor on it that I know but dont know if frame is or not. How do I find out. This is an older bike I would say but not for sure. Want to get it running but need to get some parts. Thanks for your input. Can post pictures if you want to see and mabey you will know.
  5. I decided to do a total rebuild of this quad. It needed all new bearings and I figured I would give it some paint and rebuild the engine. Well at least new bearings and top end but not for sure yet because I have not tore the motor down yet. Got the frame and a few small partst primed so far. I'll post some pics later today.
  6. hey guys need help asap........got an 86 lt230s that i just put a new crank in. i put it all back together and tryed to shift gears and it feels locked up. took it apart to make sure nothing was installed incorrectly and nothin was so put the crank case back together and tryed to shift it and it still wouldnt shift. dont kno what to do or how else to aproach this. even befor i put the case together i manually made sure the trans shifted through all the gears even through revers and it did until i put the case together. any ideas?????
