  1. Hi my 230 locked up on me I tore apart the kick start and the motor would roll over back wards after working it back and forth it was free both ways put it back together and 5 seconds after it started it locked back up any ideas why
  2. i have owned it about 6 months went through three starters sumthing keeps chewing the teeth off of the starters put new starter gear in it twice too just cant figure it out works alright for a little while then starts messin up the engine seems to backlash when i shut it off too once its running it runs great though tired of buying starters
  3. Hi everyone. New to the forum! Hers is my issue. I have a Suzuki LT80 (Not sure what year-I think it is 2002) and it will not start. I was told the starter is new and it has a new battery. I checked the battery and it reads 12.5V. When I hit the start button all I get is a click in the black 4 prong relay. I also unplugged it and jumped the 2 big wires but all it does is spark and get hot. It also gets hot if I keep pushing the start button. I also unplugged the white plug by the gas tank, hooked a wire to it and tried a battery charger...same thing...wires get hot. Then I removed the starter and used the battery charger on it. I hooked the black to the starter casing and the red to the hot lead on the starter...all it did was spark and make the battery charger hum louder. Is the starter bad? Do I need a relay? Both? I also know about the red button under the plastic. It wasn't even tripping so I bypassed it just to try what I could. I'm at a loss. I just want it to run for my son to ride. If anyone can help please do so. Thanks in advance!
  4. ok, first time on here so be patient please and im sorry if i forget anything or have to much. ok so i have a 2007 suzuki ltz 400. first thing was that it all of a sudden just starting acting weird. it has all of its power when running fine but it has moments to where it acts like it is starving for gas. it will run then it just wants to die. then i can wait 20 mins and ride it and it will b fine for a little bit for like 20 mins of riding. and that started happening first. then i got a yoshi slip on and put it on and then took it to the sh op and got the carb cleaned and jetted for the slip on. changed the oil and etc... then after it got rejetted it ran fine for a day meaning about 1/4 of a tank of gas. then same thing starts happening. so i figured something got stuck in the carb somewhere in one of the jets, i cleaned the carb completely and cleaned out the petcock and tank. still doing the same thing. just taking spells from one start up to another. after that the only thing i did was was checked to see if it was geting gas to the carb and it is. so i dnt know if it could be in the electrical like the cdi or what, Please help im desperate to get it fixed before warm weather. if you need other information just ask.   5. i'm looking to purchase a 1985 Suzuki LT230 QuadSport for $500.00. It looks great, starts on first kick. I'm just wondering what common problems I should look for and if its worth $500.00? Thanks,
  6. hows it going, my name is Brad and i recently bought a quadsport for 200 dollars i knew there was problems with it when i bought it but my dad and i are stumped at what the problems with it could be having owned multiple 4 wheelers it burns oil and i knew that when i bought it, pure white smoke screen when i go down the trail its quite fun to smoke people out but its really starting to get on my nerves, my dad thinks it could be the rings but i have yet to tear it apart and see i want a second opinion before i waste my time doing it it doesent idle at all, i have to keep on the gas when i start it up (if it even will start up its a pain to start) it almost seems like that the carb is clogged or something, the guy that owned it before me put some shitty supertrapp pipe on it and i think it also might have something to do with it im about to take the torch to it and cut the stupid thing off cause he welded right to the header pipe and run a straight pipe cause ive had no luck on trying to find a stock pipe for it.....the spark plugs come out nasty and carboned up like hell, doesent even idle with the choke on it when i do get to ride it it sounds like its almost backfireing and like its bogging down but it feels like it should be putting out more power than it should dont get me wrong when i get up to the 4th or 5th gear it runs perfectly when i keep on the gas, its fun to ride but id like it to be able to atleast idle cause it sucks when i have to stop and keep reving it any replys/advice would be greatly appreciated thank you
  7. im not sure what the problem is i think its the solenoid but this is my first atv so not totally sure. i was riding it just fine for half hour or so then stopped for a second and it died. i lost all power lights indicator lights....everything. i thought it was the battery so i cleaned the terminals and reconnected everything. i had power after that but when i hit the starter all it did was click once then the power was gone again. i let it sit for a bit and the N light came on so i tried it again and it just clicked once and power was gone again. i threw the battery on the charger and it said it was fully charged. im not sure what else it could be other than the solenoid so i need some help to know if the problem is deeper.
  8. my quad sat for a while, so when i got it running it starts with choke on but will not idle whithout some choke. I took carb off and cleaned what i could with carb cleaner and it runs a little better but still will not idle. Any suggestions out there would help. I am wandering if I just need to take carb again and use carb cleaner or is there a jet kit that will help or any adjustment that might help??
  9. I just picked up a 05 LTZ 250 Quadsport 2wd and the u-joint in the driveshaft is shot. I have replaced u-joints in automobiles many times but never on an atv. I'm hoping someone can give me some pointers. 1st I need to know how to get the driveshaft out to replace the u-joint. On vehicles you remove the bolts from the pinion flange and slide the driveshaft out of the tail of the tranny and theres you shaft removal. Unfortunetly the wheeler is not setup like that. If someone can help that would be great.

  11. I just picked up an 86 230 quadsport. The clutch slips bad. Where can I get a service manual for the repair. Is it better to just get whole new clutch basket or will just getting new clutch disk be ok. I have never pulled apart a clutch on any ATV. Thanks in advance for the input
