Hi, I'm having a serious issue with my 99 lakota. Earlier today I went to go for a ride and when I put it in gear it stalled out in gear for whatever reason, now it will not go back into neutral, when trying to get it out of gear a friend and myself pushed the quad back and fourth and I managed to get the gears to shift all the up to 5th but going back down it shifted really soft into 2nd and will not get to 1st or neutral. So I decided to tear apart the engine, I'm reading the Clymers manual to check for things that may be wrong, I'm thinking possibly the shifter and the star gear that shifts the gears might not be connecting correctly. to even look at that I have to remove both the primary and secondary clutches. The Clymers manual tells me to remove the primary by first removing the recoil starter and hold the rotor bolt to unscrew the clutch bolt. When I tried that the rotor bolt broke loose, so I decided to try to hold the rotor still and that is spinning. So now both of those ideas/methods have failed and I'm plum out of ideas on how to get that nut loose, then I'll have the same issue with the nut on the secondary clutch. According to Clymers the clutch nut is torqued to 107 ftlbs the only other thing I can think of is jamming the sprockets but thats not an option cause they will more than likely break a tooth or more. Anyone have any ideas on what I can try to do? The way it's looking now the bike is done Thanks

Hello everyone! I just picked up my first quad a couple of weeks ago- a '99 King Quad with a blown motor. I mean blown to bits, probably about half the piston was gone. It looks like the exhaust valve broke and rattled around in the engine for awhile. So I bought an engine out of an '01 and dropped it in, went incredibly smooth. The new engine did not come with drive shafts so I started pulling mine off my old engine. The front one came easy enough but the u-joints in the back appear to be peened on instead of clipped. Do I need to grind the peening out and then press the u-joint out or ? Thanks!

Anyone have any tricks to removing front hub bearings? i tried a blind bearing puller, drift punch from opposite sides. Could i press out the bearings and inner race as one assembly or is the race part of the hub? I heard of a oven trick but cant find it anyone know it? 1998 Suzuki LT-F500F MV ATV Front Axle removal help needed badly.

I bought this 98 Suzuki knowing that the front differential was bad, and the rear one might be. But I am on Social Security without much money, I am disabled, can't hardly walk, and the only way I can keep on hunting and fishing is if I get this running; this is what I can afford. I followed the instructions in my Clymer repair manual; so far everything is dismantled and the right front axle is out; it came out just like the book said it would with a "light tap". But I can't get the left front axle out no matter what I do. It is supposed to come out as easy as the right one, with just a light tap or two; but I have tapped and banged as hard as I dare to without breaking something; I just cant get that left front axle out; what am I doing wrong? Is there some kind of circlip, or retainer, on the left axle inside the differential that holds it in? I cannot find anything in the Clymer manual that says there is; but that axle just will not budge; and as I said a little tap isnt doing it; and I am afraid to bang on it any harder. I can't affor to take it to a shop; not only that but the front end is all apart and I couldnt get it into my pickup bed even if I wanted to now. So will somebody please help me and tell me what I am doing wrong; I really need to get this running so I can keep on fishing and hunting. Thanks Ken -
