  1. Having a problem figuring out what size hex wrench this part takes. It's labeled #9 at the extreme bottom right of the diagram... I have a half inch hex and that's def not it, too small. No parts store in town has anything that size so I'm gonna have to special order. Any idea what size driver this part takes?
  2. Just got this 700 grizz and I'm adding a hitch ball on the back just for the sake of having a good trailer tie down point. Not sure what I'd be towing with the bike in the future but I suppose I'd like to get whatever ball size would be most common on the things I'd be likely to tow with an ATV. So which size yall think would be best...1 7/8", 2", or 2 5/16" ?
  3. Educating myself getting ready to buy my first 4x4 and have some questions. 1 - Engine size. One of my wants is to be able to pull a trailer up a trail with a decent amount of camping gear piled in, so I've been told to either look for a good size motor or one with hi-lo gears. From what I've learned so far it seems that something like a Sportsman 500 HO or 550 Griz would do that job fairly well. But for the sake of opening up my options could I possibly look into a smaller engine than these if it had hi-lo? Put another way...what's the smallest engine size I should be looking for on a machine that has hi-lo considering my pulling needs? 2 - Can add power steering? Is it possible to add power steering to a model that didn't come with it, but other versions of that same year's model did? For example some of the 2008 Griz 550s came with PS and some didn't. If I found one that didn't have it could I reasonably assume I could add it later considering the frame and equipment has probably already been designed to work with it? 3- Mileage and age. Most of the machines I'm seeing have between 500-1200 or so miles and I'm wondering how many is too many? Seen some with 2-3000+ and I'm most def staying away from those. But whats the mileage limit where you can expect major things (read expensive) to start going wrong with the machine? I've heard someone generally speaking say they would rather take a 2006 with 1000 miles on it vs a 2012 with 2000. Would most people agree?
  4. All my studs on the wheels have the beginning 3/8 inch worn by rust as have each lugnut, so their integrity is very poor. Especially since not much of the stud extends beyond the wheel to begin with, and several of the lug nuts have no purchase at all, so they won't even stay on. My question first off is, "what is the thread size of these studs, and how difficult are they to punch out and replace"? I see new ones are available. I would hate to take a hammer to the old stud to knock it out only to break the wheel hub. Does anyone have any knowledge of this situation?
  5. I have a 2007 Honda Recon ES and need some new tires. The stock tire sizes are 22x10-9 and 22x7-11. I'm looking at some Carlisle AT489 tires but the closest sizes i can find are 22x10-10 and 22x7-12. Will they fit? Thanks.
  6. I dont know what size the factory battery was. The kart is out of town and i cant measure it.The battery i have is bad and its smaller than the factory size. i looked it up on Kazuma parts.com and lots of places but they dont list them model specific
  7. Hello fellow members, I recently tore down my grandsons 1995 250 Polaris Trail Boss to replace the rings. Problem is, its been bored over and now mics at 72.60 at the top, and 72.54 at the bottom. I only honed the cylinder to remove the glaze. What size over piston and rings do you think I should use?
  8. I need to know what the dimensions are on the shorter female yoke. I have 2 of the longer ones, need to machine down one of them. What I need is the distance between the center of the Spider hole to the top or end where the shaft slips in. Part #s 49177-1080 & 49177-1081. If anyone can help I would be most grateful. I took on this frame swap job for My Landlord, and its becoming a nightmare of mis ordered parts. I have access to a Mill & Lathe so I would rather whittle one down than wait for more parts. It appears from the parts diagram that the shorter one has a groove on the outside. Thanks Guys
  9. Hello everybody, I need some advice on buying my next utility ATV 4x4. Ive narrowed it down to Arctic Cat, Yamaha, Polaris, or Can Am. Im wanting something with a 500-850 motor. I def do not want a 1000. They just seem too big and heavy. I am 6ft-5in tall and medium build. I currently drive a 1998 Yamaha Big Bear 4x2 350 and its simply too small for my body size. I also own a 2000 Polaris Sportsman 500 4x4 which fits me quite nice and has a comfortable large seat. My wife loves driving the Popo since its automatic, so I get stuck driving the Yamaha if she tags along for ride since its semi auto shift. Id like to trade up the Big Bear for a larger, reliable, capable, trail and mud machine. I must have 4 wheel drive and IRS. I like the reliability of Yamaha, but I must admit my Popo rides quite smooth. I just really dislike the Polaris CVT belt noise and the lag time it requires to move atv after u punch the throttle. I havent tested the new 2013 or 2013 popo sportsman to compare. Im not into extreme mudding, but my friends and I do snorkel our quads and drive thru deep water on occasion. So I would like an ATV that is water friendly, if there is such a thing. LOL! Ive pondered a can am xmr 650 but am worried the can am might be expensive to maintain or repair. I really like the look of the AC Mud Pro, but I have no problem modifying a base model to suit my needs. Whatever bike I buy MUST be large in frame size. I dont need gobs of power but I prefer a larger frame size. My Big bear and my buddys Honda Rancher are just too small. My butt actually hits the rear rack when I ride if I sit bk too far. Please share your thoughts, good or bad. I am not brand loyal, I just want a well made, larger frame bike for trails and some mud. Thanks!
  10. Good morning everyone --- just joined the forum and new to ATVs. Simple question: Is there a cross-reference for interchangeable oil filters for my 05 Suzuki KingQuad 700 LTA? Thank you...
  11. what is the stock piston size on a 86 lt250r the guy i got it from put a 70.55 piston in it so how much over is that
  12. Hello I'm a new guy from sd. I've got a basic question. I'm 6 foot and 300lbs. I found a good deal on a 2010 arctic cat 450. H1. But is this atv too small for me? I don't want to look like a Damn circus bear on a moped. I keep hearing this is a "larger chassis" 4wheeler. Soooooooo close to the size of a 700 just with a smaller motor??? I guess when I hear of 450cc atv I think small motorcycle lol

  14. I just purchased an 04 polaris sportsman 700 efi 4x4, runs stock 25s and i would like to put 26s on for the additional tread depth. For just the 1" larger tire would i have to change anything with the machine to run the larger tire?
