been acting up for a couple weeks.running fine then dies,no spark at plug.wait few minutes start up again runs for maybe hours.also sometimes it will run great then it starts losing rpm.will not wind up to higher rpms then it will pickup and go for awhile.well now there is no spark any time ,nothing....

I just got this bike and not getting any spark I know nothing about it so before I spend any money on it I like to see if it fires dose it have to have a battery to complete a circut and spark cause it dosent have one

I have a 1987 YFM350 Warrior with no spark. I am trying to test the magneto/stator and it is giving me 1.0-1.1 ohms coming out to the cdi lead. Do I need to replace it?

Ok here is what happened. I notice a four wheeler at sitting in the weeds at my moms house.she said it had been there about a year and that she got tired of messing with it and told me to take it. i cleaned up the carb real good (it was pretty nasty) and put it back on, cleaned out the gas tank , put some gas in it. i was surprised but it started and ran fairly well. i rode it a few times, never for very long and then my little girl lost the key to it. since i couldn't find it i decided to just use a toggle switch and bypass ignition. when i got it hooked up for some reason i pushed the kill switch on the handlebar to off. when i did that i heard a pop which turned out to be the fuse. slid that switch back over, replaced the fuse, and tried to start it but no luck. It had been running good enough that it would start first pull with the rope. now it is not getting any fire to the plug. Does anybody know where i need to start troubleshooting the issue or why it blew the fuse. Any help will be appreciated.

can someone tell me what could be the problem if the electric start doesn't turn the motor over but sparkplug fires like crazy but the pull rope turns the motor but no fire on spark plug. thanks for any advice in advance . cbbubby78

Hope someone can help with this one. We took our 1984 Honda TRX 200 to the shop and they had it for about 2 weeks before they finally called and said that they had cleaned the carb and changed the battery and that it had started up. We went and got it and when we got home it would not start so we called them, they said bring it back in, so we did. They called us the next day and said they changed the spark plug, and that it was running. We went and got it again and it ran when we drove it off the truck. We parked it for about an hour because we were going to get ready to go on a ride. Well, it wouldnt start again. So we called them and they said the last thing they could do was order a new CDI box and put that on. I decided to just buy it myself, so I didnt have to pay them labor again. We put the new one on today and its still not starting. Does anyone have any ideas on what we could check to see what in the world is going on with this thing? Please and Thank you

ok so I got this 06 Brute force 750 in the shop came in no start put a new battery in turn key on and 30A fuse pops replace it try again another 30A fuse gone check wiring harness found 4 prong plug brown and black/yellow wires rubbed through and shorting out fixed that issue replace fuse and try again..... 30A fuse pops again play around for a while and found the CDI has shorted out on the 4 prong plug in cdi side . there was a dynatek cdi box in gave customer choice stock cdi for 300 ish or dynatek for 150 ish brought in new dynatek plug in and starts nice iddles for 5 to 10 seconds and dies ... crank it for a bit nothing ... turn key off then turn on and start .. starts up idles for same amount of time then stalls check out and no spark why would it start and stall after 5 seconds and have no spark I'm confused please help

Trying to resurrect an old Bayou and I found that there is a constant 12v coming out of the plug wire? This is even happening with cdi removed.

Hi, I'm new to the forum but used this site extensively to solve a problem a friend had with his bike so I thought I should at least share a little problem solver I discovered. He bought the bike knowing there was no spark. He replaced the stator and primary coil also known as pulser coil or exciter coil or rotational etc., as well as the CDI, secondary coil (the one attached to the spark plug wire) along with the wire and plug. Still no spark. He dropped it off at my place a month ago to see if I could figure out what was wrong. I did all the recommended tests and everything was within specs. I checked all connections and switches, all okay. So everything was perfect but still no spark. Here's the problem solver, I devised my own test and pushed "Bell wire" beside the positive and negative pins of the primary coil inside the plug of the ATV wiring harness (see below for wire identification) leading to the CDI box. I touched the wires to the ends of a "Double A" battery observing polarity. The spark plug sparked. So I knew right away everything in the ignition wiring was good and there was a problem with the primary coil. So there you go, no ohms and crap to test, you'll know right away where to look for the problem. I pulled the stator housing and found that the primary coil (or what ever you might call it) was mounted upside down, I removed it, turned it over, remounted it and now the machine runs perfectly. Here is some info I could not find on line regarding the primary coil: The after market stator on this machine: Blue with yellow stripe is positive from the primary coil Green with white stripe is negative from the primary coil. ATV wiring harness: White with blue stripe is positive from the primary coil pin to CDI. White with red stripe is negative from the primary coil pin to CDI. I hope this information helps somebody.

My 2001 Yamaha Bear Tracker will not start. I have narrowed it down to no spark. I replaced the coil and still nothing. When I was putting the old spark plug boot back on there were 4 pieces that came out when I unscrewed it. A very small flat disk, a small spring, a white cylinder and the gold grabber. I wasn't sure the order of these and don't know if it makes a big deal. I put them back in first the small spring, then the tiny disk. which came out in two pieces one almost the whole disk and just a chip. I put the big piece in and left out the chip. The white cylinder was next and the gold grabber screwed in. Is it the boot or a problem above the coil. Please help. I don't think it is the plug either. The one in the quad isn't brand new but it isn't an antique and I tried the back up plug too.

Somehow I lost all of my spark on my 350Big Bear, its a 1990. It ran well for maybe 3 days! Thought it was the carb. Cleaned it 4 times. It was losing power at midrange. Got worse and worse. Finally nothing! Are these good coils? I was thinking I could swap? 2002 Honda-200cc: primary 0.4(ohm-200) secondary 9.0(ohm20k) 1990 Yamaha-350cc: primary 0.8 secondary 11.0

Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and am hoping someone out there can help me with a no spark issue I am having with my ATV. I have the service manual and I have replaced/checked everything that I know how with the exception of the Digital Igniter Unit. Does anyone know how to test this item to verify if it is bad or not. Thanks in advance for any help or guidance. I was out riding the other day and lost all spark. I have read every thread on every forum that I could find and have not found an answer. I have checked the codes and its 00. I have ohm metered the stator and crank sensor. I have also replaced the coil pack. I have inspected and cleaned all connections. I do not mud the machine, it is mostly used at the hunting lease for working plots. When I installed the new coil I held the plug on the side of the engine and got 2 little sparks when first turning over and then nothing again. When you turn the machine over like this it eventually flashes EFI on the screen. I checked both wires that go to the coil and noticed that both have ground continuity. While turning over the blue and white one cycle from around 1v to almost 12v. The battery has a full charge and I am at a total loss. I took the kill switch apart and all looked well. Oh yea and all fuses are good. Help me please I am getting very frustrated. Thanks

Usually I never ask for help on the Internet, but this thing has me stumped. 2001 Arctic Cat 250 4x4, I bought it from a friend, he said it ran good a week before he sold it to me. I have taking apart all the plastic/ racks. I have no spark to this machine at all. I have replaced Two ignition coils, checked the Harness for any bad spots, checked all fuses/ replaced them just because. Changed spark plug, changed Two CDI boxes, Good battery, I have checked and bi passed all neutral safety switches, and still no spark. I hooked up my Multimeter on the single wire coming into the coil and I'm getting about two volts pulsating when using the push button starter, I have also tried pull starting, and still nothing. Please if you could help me in some way in would be appreciated.. Thank you

This has been a frustrating one to figure out, but long story short I've replaced just about every component on the machine and I'm still not getting spark. Or at least not how it suppose to work... When the engine is turning over it does not spark at all, but sometimes when I let off on the start button it will spark just once. I've played with this numerous times and it will only generate a spark like this. I've seemed to somehow come to the conclusion that this correlates to the engine or crank "rocking" backwards. Depending on where it is in the stroke the crank will rotate back in the opposite direction when the starter motor dis-engages. I thought maybe I had a polarity problem, but this is where I'm stuck. If it is indeed a polarity problem what could cause it? If it's not a polarity problem is it just categorized as a "weak" spark issue? Everything seems to ohm out fine, continuity checks at each plug check out, etc, etc.... Throw me some ideas. PLEASE!

Ok so I have a Yamaha big bear that will not spark a lick. Ive checked everything I know to check on this thing can cant locate the problem. The only way I can get it to start and run is to jump the two back wires coming off the key switch theres 4 wires on the key switch. If I jump them two it will start and run great but it will not die when I turn the switch off the only way I can kill the motor is to turn the engine stop/run switch off. If it was mine id run the heck out of it that way but its a older friend of mine and I would rather have the key switch operating correctly. I have already replaced the key switch with 2 different switches and it does the same thing. I have also replaced the cdi and still has not changed anything. I would highly appreciate any advise I am at a lost on this thing. thanks

Help! Working on a warrior that was given to us because the previous owner gave up on it. Have replaced or verified every part of the electrical system (stator, pickup coil, relays, switches, etc.) and still no spark. Have searched several sites like this one and tried everything we could find. Bike cranks but no spark. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

hi im new to this page and i was wondering i have a kolpin 90cc atv that i got through a trade for a snowblower. It obviously sat in a mud puddle for awhile the stator was full or mud and crap but is now clean and creating current it also has a new cdi and coil but still no spark any ideas?

Hi I am a first time user on here and thank everyone in advance for any advise. I have a 400 4x4 manual shift. It all the sudden lost spark. Checked voltage at the coil and it's 400 plus volts. Trust me it is I touched the wire . I read a bunch about the magnets falling off the flywheel causing this so I took the cover off to find that my flywheel has the magnets built in. Now I am stumped any thoughts? Also does anyone know where to find a exploded view of the gears inside as several fell off when I took it off. Again thanks in advance.

Hi there, My 1989 suzuki ltf-250 quadrunner is having spark problems it seems to only fire 1 bright spark when you first hit the starter button then loose spark most of the time. Other times it will spark nice and bright and run good. I have a new battery in it and it shows 11.5v while cranking and also has a new coil. any ideas on what could be causing this problem. ]

I'm not getting any spark to the spark plug and I'm not getting any power to the cdi or the stator either need help trying to get this bike going for my dad for the woods any help would be appreciated thanks

I got a (2006 I think) Guangdong Jialing Chinese 110cc that I got from a friend that only needed a battery. Ran great but died a few times but would start right back up. Then it quit due to no spark. So I replaced the CDI, Coil, and Spark Plug but now it has spark but its intermittent. Could it be the stator magneto or voltage regulator that would cause the spark to intermit like that? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello to all! New member I have a 1984 Honda Big Red 200ES that has no spark. I was out riding it and it just quit. I replaced the coil and CDI but that was not the problem. I borrowed a Honda service manual and went through the ignition system section and checked for possible problems. One check was for the alternator exciter coil. On the black with red tracer wire it said there should be 100-400 ohms between the wire and ground. I had zero. If I tested this right that might be the problem. They did not show how to test the pulse generator. I would like to get some feed back before I throw more parts at it. Thank you for your time.

Bought a 07 sunl 110atv from some one who got it at auction and couldn't get it to do any thing. I have no experience at atvs but i'am very mechanically capable so i figured id take a gamble and buy it for my daughter birthday. After a couple of broken wires i go it cranking again but no spark(with kill switch unplugged). After a bit I found the magneto (sorry if incorrect term)or pickup for timing trigger was in pieces. I bought a new stator for it to find that when i cranked it i could hear a tinging sound stator cover was cracked and pushing pickup into fly wheel. I replaced cover also.Not knowing what broke cover i also ran a dial indicator on fly wheel to make sure shaft wasn't bent. Now after all my research I'm at a dead end. I will tell you guys the info from my testing. Testing cdi plug (unplugged and off) between ground and pin timing trigger- 122 ohms ignition coil- 0.6 ohms kill switch- infinite ac ignition power- 340 ohms Also have good ground on connector too Testing cdi plug (while cranking unplugged) A/C ignition power- 36 volts ac timing trigger 0.7 volts ac Is there any way to test cdi or coil?Any help would be appreciated bought it for my daughter birth day on the 10th need to figure it out asap.
