About Me

My Garage

  1. Ride Review: As the owner of a pretty tricked out 2008 Kawasaki Teryx, I am very familiar with the Teryx. My Teryx did not stay stock long, but I recently spent three days in a bone stock 2008 Teryx on a ride to the Grand Canyon. The 2008 Teryx is a great machine, but my biggest complaint was that it came out with carbs instead of fuel injection. In less that a year since the first Teryxs hit dealer floors, Kawasaki dealers are already selling 2009 Teryxs with EFI. The New digital fuel inject on the Teryx is really nice. The engine starts right up and idles smoothly. On acceleration, the 2009 Teryx felt more crisp and seemed to get up to top speed a little quicker. While it is not a night and day difference, I definitely preferred everything about the EFI on the 2009 over the carburetors on the 2008. Next up on the list of what's new is a fuel gauge. I know it doesn't seem like something to get that excited about, but I do some long distance rides, and the fuel level display takes the mystery out of "I wonder how much fuel I have left?" The Teryx Sport has upgraded aluminum wheels which not only look much better, but are also 2.2 lbs. lighter than the standard steel wheels. Losing unsprung weight not only requires less energy to get the tires spinning, but also helps the suspension work better. And as a little bonus, the aluminum wheels are actually strong that their steel counterpart. Suspension is on the 2009 Teryx Sport has a few upgrades as well. The gas-charged Kayaba shocks have reservoirs all the way around to help reduce fade in rough terrain. The preload adjustment is step-less, and they have fully adjustable rebound and compression (high and low speed) damping. Although we did not have any opportunities to jump the new Teryx Sport, we did get into some nasty whoops and hard g-outs. I felt the Teryx Sport suspension handled the terrain better than a standard Teryx suspension. The ride through the light chop was a bit smoother than a standard Teryx and when we got into the whoops I felt a little more comfortable as well. Although I was able to bottom out the front shocks on a few hard g-outs, a standard shock would have gone to the stops more often and with more force. Overall, even though I did not spend any time trying to fine tune the adjustments on the new Sport shocks, I think they are a worthy improvement over standard shocks. The Lime Green plastic on the Teryx Sport is a great color. Much more sharp than the drab green found on the 2008 Teryx. And with all the UTVs out in the dunes in Glamis, there is no doubt that you are in a Kawasaki when you are driving it. The 2009 Kawasaki Teryx 750 FI 4x4 Sport has a MSRP of $11,899. A full list of all new 2009 Kawasaki Teryx improvements and photo galleries can be found here. 4. Trying to change front wheel bearings. I removed the cotter pin and castle nut. Hub won't budge. Is there an additional retaining clip? Seems to be one of those push on type that barbs on the thread of the spindle. How do I remove it?
  5. 2008 JIANSHE JS250 ATV-8 SPORT 5SPEED WITH REVERSE... where can I get parts for this??? Everything seems to be heavy duty quality... 525 chain Fast Ace gas charged adjustable shocks front n rear...Yamaha aluminium rims...it's a Yamaha Raptor copy with the exception of the front like (that looks similar to a Roketa front light)
  6. Anyone know how many links in the drive chain to the front wheel drives on the 1995 sport 400 2 stroke if it makes a difference. thanks in advance freight:GEEK:
  7. Hello! I have a 1995 sport 400 4wd, after cleaning the carb it starts and runs but when I turn the key or switch the kill switch it wont shut off. not all the time though.any suggestions on where to start? there is a ground cable that's on the frame above the carb that's not connected and would love to know where that goes. thanks in advance freight
  8. my 1995 sport 400 engine dies when I try to put it in reverse. It dont always do this but when it does i have to push it back enough so I can go forward. I have looked thru the 25 pages and found nothing on this. Thanks in advance

  10. Bring Style and Performance your Polaris Ranger RZR and RZR S, with the DFR Sport Shaker Hood. The 8 inch DFR Light (sold separately), firmly mounts to the vehicle, while the factory hood attaches and can be removed as it does from the stock vehicle. The Shaker Hood Scoop is a cover that mounts to the Factory hood. A light weight product that protects the 8 inch LED and still allows you the More...
  11. I went to the Costa Mesa 2010 Sand Sport Show today. It was great. I have never seen such trick stuff. Sunday is the last day. If you have a chance you should go!
  12. ne1 no of any rear shocks from other quads that will bolt right up or have little modification to fit a 1986 lt230 quadsport
  13. So my Lakota Sport isn't running right. It starts and idles fine but gags out (doesn't die) when I hit the throttle unless I go super slow and once I get to the high revs I can play with the throttle all i want. I have so far; put in new gas, cleaned air filter, cleaned carb, changed spark plug, adjusted throttle cable, valves were adjusted about a year ago with only a couple rides on it. Any ideas?
  14. Hey guys, I have a quick question I tried searching a bit for the answer but being downrange I run out of time for browsing. I am looking into getting a used 450 be it TRX, YFZ or a LTR, more torwards the TRX or YFZ due to price and width. Mostly recreational riding, wanting to get into xc and maybe mx but that is not my deciding factor you can mod and set up anything to work for what you want, My question is from the start of the 450's what years are the most reliable meaning which ones and years had the biggest issues.... I know performance is more to maintain. I heard YFZ had the 04-05's with crank or oil issues to get 06 and up but what about the TRX or LTR any years with issues to avoid??? Thanks
  15. Is it possible to put a sport clutch on a 2007 Honda TRX 400EX? If so, is it expensive and will it be hard to do? I am wanting a bigger quad and then use the 400EX for guests, etc. and I wouldn't have to worry about someone screwing up the clutch. Both of my kids 2007 Honda TRX 250EX have them, which came from the factory that way. I would call my local dealer but they are rude and not helpful. Thanks
  16. Sup guys? Been registered here for awhile but never posted. Well i sold the blaster in my username lol, but ill always keep my first bike. So i still got the LT. Its an 86 quad sport. Havent ridden it much since i started racing dirtbikes. But i took it out last weekend and the steering stem on it snapped! Im guessing this is pretty common because it happened when i went to start the bike. But before i snapped that this thing smoked worse then a pothead. So i got a wiseco top end kit for it. Dropped the cylinder off at a machine shop so this will kinda be a build thread. So here are a few pics: Crack: Do you think i could weld it? reinforce it too........

  19. OK Guys and Girls, I've been playing with my toe-in on my DS650. I set it to 3/16" toe-in with a total of 3/8". I'd like to share what I found, well most ATV's have a little play in the tie rod ends. Mine has about 1/16" to 3/32 and they're good. I remember replacing the tie rod ends on my 300 Honda 4X4, and it made no difference at all! Getting to what I did. I placed a straight edge from the rear wheel to the front wheel, and carefully eyed the direction of the front wheel. I used 2 bungie cords to hold the handle bars straight, and adjusted each tie rod so my 2 front wheels were toed in 3/16". Well here's what happened, I decided to take a ride around my house a few times. I pulled into my garage and made sure my handle bars were straight ahead. I checked the right wheels toe, and it was 3/8". The left side was straight ahead. I scracthed my head, so around the house again I went. Pulled bck into the garage, and checked it again. It was the same. The right wheel 3/8" left wheel straight ahead. Now this time I tried it once more. I got the same reading again. Now I made my adjustments on each wheel to 3/16" I went around the house, pulled in the garage . This time it was on the money, so when you think you have your handle bars straight. You may not! Now my wheels started turning and turning, I was thinking of a toe-in gauge I remember seeing when I was a kid. So I started looking and looking on the internet. I found one! I didn't get it yet, when I do get it. I will be happy to share my opinion with you on how well it works. This coming Wednesday night I'm headed for the Hatfield McCoy Trails in Southern WV. I'll let you know how the DS handles when I get it up to the twitchey speeds. The DS's have that twitchey feeling, and I've read it more that once. When you get it up to about 50 to55 it starts that dance. Well I aim to fix it without buying A arms. The camber is negative, and that's a good thing. My caster is not bad, meaning the lower balljoint is further forward than the upper balljoint. If it were a knig pin, the top would be at 11 Oclock, and the bottom would be a 5 Oclock on the right side of the 4 wheeler. The left side the top is at 1 Oclock, and the bottom is at 7 Oclock. So the caster is OK as well. Which means I have a positive caster. So I'm gonna call my work testing and experimentation, and I will be happy to share it with all of you. The toe gauge I ordered is made by S&G tools #SGT61100, you can see what it looks like using google. Just type in SGT61100 and you'll find it. Anthony
  20. 2003 Kawasaki Lakota Sport 300, runs perfect, there's nothing wrong w/ it at all, I change the oil and clean the air filter after every 3-4 times of riding. Tires hold air, but the tread on the back ones are worn. I love this ATV, and the only reason I'm selling it is because I want something a little bigger (trx450r). The Lakota is made to have fun on, or bolt on racks and use as a utility ATV. I can send pictures, just call or email me. I'm asking $2300 OBO. (405) 485-8895. E-mail: [email protected]
  21. So, ive been searching for a while but cannot seem to find a racing league for a 16 year old teen that rides a 700cc sport utility quad:aargh:. does anyone know of a league or a series or a something? any help at all would be much appreciated.
  22. My 03' Lakota sport has never been taken apart but it's leaking oil. It's on the left side of the bike and looks like maybe the gaskets are failing. It doesn't seem to leak except when I am riding, and it's not enough that I have to add more, it just makes a mess of the bike. Anyone else had this problem? Should I get it taken care of asap? It doesn't leak while parked. It doesn't leak while running. It ONLY leaks while I am riding:huh:.
  23. I am looking for new parts and aftermarket parts of my 03' Lakota Sport (kef300-b3). On the aftermarket stuff I am looking for a bigger gas tank and the rear and/or front racks. Does anyone know a place I can find this stuff, preferably used so it's cheaper? or any other aftermarket stuff for this bike?
  24. Who owns a sport quad and why?
  25. The LTZ-400 and the LTR-450 have some great reviews and have some top finishes in quad racing. The LTR-450 is built for racing but I beg the differ. It handles great on trails and in the mud. Just need to add some mods to it and it will out run any utility quad on the trail. I was up in duck creek Utah this weekend and went through just about any mud hole there was and it just kept going. Cant wait to get it on the dunes this fall hopefully the weather will cool down.
