  1. I just bought a 91 and when I went to change the oil in the rear diff it had water in it (milky oil). There are no leaks in the seals so I think it's coming in the vent tube. Thing is I can't find it. Anyone know where it is. Thanks
  2. There's an electrical cable connected to the front brake lever. The parts list calls it the front stop switch assembly. There is no stop switch on this side of the handle bars. Seems to be activated by the brake lever. Anybody know what it does?
  3. I just got a 1991 Yamaha Moto 4 for my son and I am looking for a service repair manual. I know that the timing chain needs replaced.
  4. Looking for help on wiring up stock wiring harness specifically for a '88 Honda TRX 300 If anyone could drop a link or send me a PM it would be much appreciated
  5. My Honda Fourtrax won't start. The starter is kicking the engine over, but it won't start. It sat for about a year while I was living away, so I thought it might have been bad gas. I completely drained the fuel, flushed the fuel lines and filled it with fresh gas. However, still nothing. It started and ran fine the last time I used it. Any suggestions on how to diagnose this? It could be fuel or electrical at this point. Is there an easy way to rule one or the other out? Thanks
  6. Recently bought my BB. Everything works great. Only thing is, each time I put it in reverse, it either starts to rev high and start moving without giving it gas or I'll give it a bit of gas and let go and it will still rev at the same rpm or higher and keep moving. Doesn't do it for high or low.
  7. Hey guys! I only need a couple think from the machine. Front bumper is #1. The other is the front plastics in grey. Used is fine as long as there is no cracks. Thanks, Danny
  8. Hi, I have a 1991 Suzuki King Quad 300. I bought it not long ago, and it has never run right. I bought a new diaphragm for it. It's sealed in that department. It barely ran good before, and actually I got it to run fairly good, with a good pull with a clamp in air cleaner. I put a snorkel on it, making sure to use pipe that would allow an ID as big as the carb intake flange, so there's no restrictions, and the same clamp on air cleaner. I went through the carb again, even put a top quality Japanese rebuild kit in it. It starts and idles perfectly. Has good power from idle to about 1/3, then anything past 1/3 throttle, or thereabouts, it just bogs down and completely dies. If I pull the choke in, I can get it to half throttle without it bogging down or dying. It pops and backfires and sputters the whole time, then past a certain point the engine acts like I hit the kill switch. It IS getting gas in the carb by the way, I put on a electronic fuel pump which helped things immensely. I put on a fuel pressure regulator and got the fuel to around 2 PSI. I am at about 5,500 feet elevation, and the main jet is a 120. I am considering coring out the main jet to a larger size to see if that helps anything. This quad is already such a gas hog, but maybe if it is jetted right it won't be so had? Edit: It does actually run a tad better when it is warmed up.
  9. Hi, I have a 1991 King Quad that I bought that needed "carb work". So I bought a rebuild kit and installed it, checked and set float height. It idles okay, but when I give it gas it stumbles all over itself. On full throttle it suddenly comes alive and pulls and pulls. It is rideable, but only marginally. So I was examining the slide and diaphragm, but at the bottom of the slide, there are three holes. One in the middle for the needle, and two on each side of it at the bottom of the slide. What are these holes for? I can see daylight through them so no vacuum is being formed in there, it is being sucked out of the two open holes. Is there a spacer or something that blocks these holes? I might try filling them with silicone and seeing how it runs with it in there, because it is not running right right now. It acts lie there' no vacuum pulling the slide up, only at WOT.
  10. My quad will no longer start using the electric starter. When you push the starter button, you can hear the starter relay (adjacent to the battery) click but the starter is silent. Bad starter relay or something else? Help!
  11. Son put snorkel kit on bike yesterday, now runs a little rough when you lay off throttle and sometimes stalls. When I take off airbox cover it runs perfect, this would mean when I have cover on the snorkel is giving less air, right? So, less air it is running too rich or too lean? Thanks, Kirk
  12. I dont have a manual for the bike. I want to change the oil and filter but im sure where to drain the oil and refill. Actually im not even sure where the oil filter is. Is the engine oil and tranny oil the same? If so do i need to drain engine oil and tranny oil separately? As you can tell Im confused:huh:. Anyone able to help? Thanks, Mike
  13. Hello everybody. I recently bought a '92 Polaris Trail Boss 4x4 250 for a project bike for my sons to ride. It's a 2 stroke air cooled motor, chain driven bike, and the previous owner had a shop bore over the motor .040 I was told. He also removed the front drive shafts, so it's basically a 2WD now. LOL. When I purchased it it was in pretty rough condition. Brakes didn't work, hard to start, rusty frame, chains were covered in muck, flat tires (wrong size too), torn seat, would grind when u put it in Drive, but when it did get it started it tore down the road like a bat out of Hell, so I knew I found a keeper. I have since fixed the brakes, replaced fuel lines, air/fuel/oil filters, tires, rebuilt the carb w/ a carb kit, replaced breather/vent/drain hoses on carb and reupholstered the seat, replaced the rear chain, and replaced spark plug and ignition coil. I use Bel Ray SL2 oil in her. I did not replace the battery. We ride this bike on trails and it runs pretty good now. Occasionally it will backfire (loud), but not every ride. Since the day I bought it it takes forever to start the engine. I mean like 30 seconds to a minute of trying to start her. I turn choke on, I flutter the throttle, and hold the START button. This is the only way she'll start. I hold the start button in for approx 10 seconds at a time, but I'm concerned I'm going to burn out my starter if this persists. Now after we ride the bike and she's warmed up she starts faster. Still not as fast of a start as my '98 Yamaha Big Bear 350 which immediately starts first try. It's stubborn on the FIRST start up. Now I live in Florida and it's always HOT when we ride, so even when the motor is cold it's enjoying 85-95 degree weather. Any thought or suggestions how to fix my quad's problem? Sorry, I mistyped the Title of this Thread. Polaris is a 1992 NOT a 1991
  14. Guess I spoke to soon. Bragged on another thread about how well this bike ran. And it DID. But then I noticed gas leaking from the overflow tube on the carb. Bike still ran great though. Anyway figuring the floats were stuck I removed the carb checked the floats and put back together. Then it wouldn't start. Turn over but no go. But it didn't leak. When I finally got to start it ran like crap. So took carb back off, re checked floats and porting as best as I could. Re-installed carb and now not only does it run like crap but its leaking fuel from over flow tube even worse. I've ordered a new carb kit for it. I'm not real well versed in carberation so I'm trying to proceed carefully. Any tips tricks or general input is welcome. Thanks, Mike
  15. I just joined the site and I am looking forward to the wealth of info. I am buying a new carb for it and after the install, will there be anything that I can do to prime it (carb) with fuel ? I assume that I would use the primer on the side of the carb ? Any suggestions for a newby. I also have a 2005 350 ES 4x4 that has been sitting for a few years . I am guessing that I will have to pull that carb and clean it also, since it wont start either. Please excuse the grammer, I am computer dumb. Thanks in advance.
  16. Looking for some help on how to take the front drive shaft out on my 1991Yamaha Big Bear so we can replace the u joint.
  17. had the cdi box replaced, ran great for a few months, was racing it around a dirt race track . Spit and spuddered then died . Replaced spark plugs started for a minute then died , now it won't start . Any suggestion ? How can I test the cdi box ?
  18. Iam needing to know the measurement on float height on my 1991 suzuki lt 230 e and was wondering if anyone could help me out.Height and where to measure from and to. The floats themselves are round and seem to have no good centerline casting marking ect. Do i measure to top of float when holding upsidedown say at a 90 degree angel???? Any help is appreciated.

  21. Hello all, just bought my first ATV today at a local government disposal auction. A buddy who knows a little about them advised me and I spent $1300.00CDN - plastic is a little rough but it seems to run well and no obvious mechanical issues. According to the auction catalog it is a 1991 Suzuki LT F4 but I can't find anything on line - I'm looking for advice about where I can find manuals etc. Also simple stuff like changing oil, key fluid levels to check and how and what should I be checking mechanically. Thanks
