  4. I have a 1988 300 Honda FourTrax, All wheel drive. My brother and I were fixing up this quad. We put a brand new battery and fuses in and it was running fine until we put the quad into reverse. As soon as it was put into reverse all of the electrical cut out and power wasn't making it to the head unit anymore and both of the brand new fuses popped. We figured there might have been a short from the starter or solenoids, but they are all working properly. At this point we don't know where to start looking for where the short could be. I'm just wondering if anybody has had the same issue or knows of similar issues that could cause these electrical shorts?
  5. Went shopping on Saturday, picked up another Kawasaki Bayou 220 and a Yamaha Timber Wolf 250 I really should sell some of these but they are a lot of fun to find, fix and ride Of course neither of them run but that's part of the fun! Az
  6. Hi, I’m new to the forum. I have a large trailer, about 7500 lbs loaded, that I need to move around in my driveway. I was planning to buy a motorized trailer dolly, but it occurred to me that perhaps and ATV could do it, and then I could not only move the trailer but also have the ATV for the fun of it! I’m wondering if anyone knows if an ATV can move a trailer this size? The tongue weight is about 750 lbs, and I’d only be moving it very slowly in a small space on almost level concrete and gravel.
  7. Looking at buying a used ATV and was curious as to what the average lifespan is on one? I was browsing ebay and I saw one with 120 hours on it. I'm not sure if that is a lot or a little? Saw another with 1400 miles for a reasonable amount of money and another that looked better but had 4200 miles on it. How many miles or hours is too much? I'm looking at 4x4 ATV's for carrying deer stands etc into the woods and hopefully carrying deer out
  8. How old were you when you got your first ATV and what kind was it?
  9. Newbie to this forum and to riding. Looking to buy my very first atv and I have a budget and prefer new since I don't want to buy someone else's junk. A place a couple if hours from me has some 2013 kymco wheelers on clearance to make room for 2014 models. So he has a 450i mxu 4x4 for $4,500. 450i maxxer 4x4 for $5k. And a 500i mxu 4x4 for $4,800. That's his OTD price I pay taxes and registration on my own. Since this is my first wheeler I don't want to spend more that $5k and these have a 1 year warranty and I can extend it to 6 years for $850. The guy says these are just arctic cats for 20 percent less. According to him they have been making 500 and smaller atvs for arctic cat and Kawasaki for years now. I'm really just going to use this to plow and do trail riding. Any experience with them?

  13. Buying my first hunting atv. Found these for same price... 2015 Polaris sportsman 570, all wheel drive, fuel injected, irs, automatic. 2013 Honda foreman 4x4 420, 4 wheel drive, fuel injected. No power steering. Both are automatic. The dealer is pushing me to the Polaris, saying its a true all wheel drive which is close to power steering. He said the Honda he has does not have power steering. Also saying the solid rear axle on the Polaris better for rocky terrain. Is the all wheel drive on the Polaris good enough or do I need the true 4 wheel drive for the worst terrain? I got some steep hills to climb. Also wondering which will have better storage for hauling gear in and out? Thanks

  16. Who has an atv trailer for their ride? A dump cart. I've seen them at home depot and sears for tractors, which can be used for atvs. I've also seen them online. Just wondering who has one and how do you like it. If you have one, please include brand, price, place of purchase, photo (if available) and what you use it for mostly. Thanks.
  17. Not satisfied with the commercially available versions, Jonathan recently built an ATV spring compressor. In this video, he demonstrates using it to remove & re-install the spring on an ATV coil-over shock absorber. Mistake in video - the coil-over shock is not quite a McPherson strut. If you are inspired to build your own spring compressor, feel welcome to use any ideas from this video. Thanks for watching! Resurgence Small Engine Inc.

  20. Gibbs Technologies Ltd, the world’s only High Speed Amphibian (HSA) technology specialist, today unveiled a prototype of the first commercially viable high-speed amphibian Quadbike/All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) - Quadski. Quadski is the third demonstration of Gibbs’ HSA technology following the successes of the Aquada and the Humdinga. It is capable of travelling up to 50 mph (72 kph) on land and water and makes the transition at the flick of a switch. Commenting on the launch of the Quadski prototype, Alan Gibbs, the founder of UK based Gibbs Technologies Ltd. said, “Quadski is both exciting and practical with a multitude of uses”. “I know consumers will love the fun of driving a Quadski on land one minute and then head straight into the sea or river the next. But there is a very serious side to Quadski as well: emergency services and aid workers will be able to reach areas and people no two or four wheel drive vehicle could reach.” Gibbs Technologies
  21. If you are looking for a used ATV for sale, where do you look? I know ebay and craigslist have used ATVs for sales and then sometimes you find local trade publications where they list used ATVs. I was looking online and decided to list out some websites that sell used ATVs. If you know of any additional websites or sources to look for or buy used ATVs, please post as a comment in this topic. eBay Motors - usually has a good selection of four wheelers, ATVs, and Side by Sides and offer seller protections Craigslist - usually has more local ATVs, but be careful as there are no seller protections ATV Trader - has over 130k ATVs listed by private sellers ATVSoup.com - new and used ATVs for sale WantAdDigest - Shows local listings of ATVs for sale ATV.com - List new and used ATVs for sale When buying a used ATV, make sure you do your research and find out the book value of the ATV, look over the condition of the ATV, and as for verification of ownership. Be careful who you buy from and get the ATV checked out by a professional dealer or repair shop if you are baying a high price. Watch our for VIN numbers that are scraped off, this is usually a sign that the ATV was stolen.
