Hi Guys! New member and could really use your advice. I would have to believe this has been an issue for others but a search here came up with nothing......? (Probably me not doing search correctly) I have an 87 Big Bear 350 YFM350FWT The OEM Mikuni BTM carb is shot and would rather replace than rebuild. It is no longer made and I have had good luck with NICHE carbs so I ordered a #K-CRB-0006 This was what they said was replacement when ordered. This Carb only uses 1 Throttle cable. The Slide is linked so it uses one. (OEM had 2nd cable coming through top to move slide) Problem is when I ordered a replacement Cable from NICHE (#C-CBL-0061) the Cable wire is a little short, not allowing Throttle to return all the way down to Idle position. I called NICHE and they are at a loss. Haven't gotten back to me after 2+ weeks. What would you recommend other than a carb rebuild? Can I just use 1 of the OEM cables (It is the right length) and snip/disconnect the other that went to top of Carb for Slide? Or ?? Thanks in advance for any advice you have!! Dave

Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4 I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s

Hi guys My 87 Bear 350 won't start and could use a hand. Turn key on and Oil light turns on and then slowly fades out. (I think this is key to this) No start, not even a tick. Battery and connections good A Solenoid post jump turns it over Neutral Safety Switch wire attached and seems good It has not had a wire/switch on Rear Brake Pedal ever since I had it. Any thoughts on some other things to troubleshoot this??

Had the starter solenoid hang 87 Big Bear while I was riding it. Wrecked the battery. Put a new battery and solenoid in. Wont start with the starter, but will start with the rope and runs great. The fuse is good, but I don’t have any continuity through the circuit breaker. I’m assuming there should be. Can’t find one online, can I replace it with a fuse? Posted a picture of the circuit breaker. Bob

Hi I have a Yamaha big bear 1992 and I have just put a new carb on it and when I get to abit half throttle it starts to splutter on like it’s not sparking but when it’s under load it won’t really do it did this with original carb aswell thank you

Hello All, I have a 1999 Yamaha Big Bear 350 4x4 trying to get fixed up so my grandson can go out in the woods with me. We have owned it over 10 years. It got harder to start, until it finally would not. Replaced the carb. Right afterwards, it started and ran nicely, but after turning it off, would not restart. Tonight I used starting fluid and ran, then died. Adjusted the idle up a little, used more starting fluid and ran great. It idled about 15 minutes. Turned it off, and restarted. Ran it around the yard about 5 minutes. Turned it off, and would not restart. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.

Yamaha 1997 Big Bear 350 2x4, left me to walk home, was idling & died. When I tried to restart I got the neutral & oil lite, nothing else any ideas?

I just bought a 93 350 Big Bear. I noticed 3 things right off. #1. No recoil start. It has just a cover. Difference #2 Key switch is on right front fender. instrument cluster is different than all I've seen. Am anxious to get it running. Thanks for your help

Currently working on a 1992 Yamaha Big Bear 350 that idles perfect but cuts out with any kind of throttle. We replaced carburetor and head to carburetor boot. Put in a new spark plug, the old one was black as hell, unsure if it was caused by old carburetor or current misfire. This problem similar to the rev limiter you see on newer models when differential is locked or in reverse. I don't think this machine has that feature but I could be wrong? I suspect an ignition component is breaking down but at the moment I don't have access to a wiring diagram or workshop manual but I'm working on that. Are the e-manuals any good? Any ideas?

Hello all, I'm about to service my big bear and have a few questions, 1. Transfer case oil- I believe this is the same as the engine 10w40? How much do I need for the transfer and the engine? 2. Is there a link for the oil in the transfer case to back and forth between the transfer and engine? 3. diff oil- I'm looking at doing both best viscosity and how much will I Need? Thank you

Hi all, I have purchased a 92 (i think) big bear 350, that wasn't running, i have just got it running and now in the process of seeing what else is needed to keep it running and serving it. I was checking the rear diff oil and opened the filler plug and water came out. The question is how did water get in there without going back out the same way it got in?. So I am going to drain it and put in new diff oil, what type of diff oil is best (viscosity) and how much is need for it? I'll do the front diff at the same time as the bike doesn't look like it has been maintained well.

Hi guys, first post here. I have a Big Bear 350 that I purchased for yard work. First job was to drag a small harrow around with to level my back yard. I bought it used, worked fine on the test ride around the neighborhood. I've never licensed it or taken it on any trail rides. I've literally put less than two miles on it. Almost all the work was done in 1st or 2nd gear in low range. As I was dragging the harrow, it began getting progressively harder to shift, even with the motor off. It's like something was out of alignment internally and binding up. Now I can't get it to shift at all. The shifter feels like it won't move through the full range to complete a shift, like something is blocking it. I already know I got screwed on the deal. What do you think it's going to take to fix? Common issue? Thanks

Hello all, First post here, I've been searching these posts for a similar issue and have found some close but no real answers yet. So my Big Bear has an ignition issue ran great till last year then quit. A shop changed the coil and CDI on it and it worked for about an hour and now its back to the same issue, I just changes the stator and pick up but that did not fix the problem either! So now basically all the parts have been changed. So what it does and its the part that's confusing me a lot is when I crank it over with the electric start there's no spark but if I pull it over by hand there's a good spark?????? And if I crank it over with the electric start and at the same time slide the kill switch from on to off it will spark once then from off to on it will spark about 3-4 times. I'm lead to think it's the CDI except it works when I pull it over? Looking for ideas here. Scott

I’m just wondering what year bike i got? it seems the vin has been rubbed off i got it from a auction here in Australia engine starts but seems has a dirty carb wont idle well and also has a problem I put it in gear and makes a grinding noise but does not move it the neutral light goes out but then when I change gear it grinds more in the higher gears as well I’m guessing the differential is stuffed so wanting to buy new part for it will start the pull down next week this is the first bike I have worked on used to dealing with cars

No spark replaced the coil and it ran good for a week now i have no spark again

Hi i bought my first atv last week, mostly for plowing. its a 94 yamaha big bear 350 4x4, with plow, new front axles, carb rebuild and some other stuff for $900. in todays prices, i think it was a pretty good deal. I plan on tearing it down and doing a semi restoration in the summer. its been clearly neglected so i suspect i will need to do a fair amount. couple questions. 1. parts and manuals, so far i know it needs front shocks, tie rods, brakes, cables, lots of small stuff, whats your guys favorite online atv parts store? where can i find a good repair manual? 2 - starts and drives great, shifts a bit hard? not sure whats normal because i dont have a point of referance. i have to almost lean back in the seat and lever my foot up to get it to shift, seems like there is either alot of play in something (shift lever itself is tight) or there is a long travel, or it just dosent want to shift. also the hi / low / reverse lever needs to go past the gate a bit to actually shift into gear, and seems to need me to shift into nutral before shifting into reverse (not sure what your supposed to do). also wondering a bit about the history of the machine, because the plastics have a slot for a dash mounted shifter, but the one on it is a gated shifter right above the pull starter. 3. seat and plastics repair, seat is quite torn up with a seat cover over it, plastics are pretty cracked up, these items i havent found replacements for for any reasonable price, i dont care a whole lot about asthetics but whats the best way to functionally repair these things? is there reasonably priced replacements somewhere? i plan to bedline the whole thing after im done. 4. there was no title, but i did get a bill of sale, will it be difficult to get it titled / registered?
