My son Has a polaris 500 year 2000. I have done a lot of work to get it running. Running pretty well but seems to lose power and then it becomes ok. I believe the carburater nees to be rebuilt. Found a kit on the internet. Is there anyway to have instructions for removal so it will be easier to remove or do I have to easter egg the removal. I guess short of buying a maintenance manual. I recently purchased a lt 230. I knew it had issues but was a clean looking bike.So anyhows.Iam having poor idle ect. When running the engine has no knocks or pings gong on but seem to be have air fuel problems.Almost like it taking in air somewhere and cause high then low revs and slight popping noises.Iam no rocket scientist but did try to troubleshoot the issues.I started with basic airfilter check.Upon inspection the foam airfilter had just crumble by the touch of my fingers.Needless to say its in the garbage now.So next i went into the carb.Had smalls junks of rust sitting in the bottom of bowl.Previous owner said it sat outside for quit some time.Anyhows i check the carb for any clogged fuel and or air passages. All seemed good actually. Now back to when i removed the carb from airbox and cylinder intake.I removed the throttle slide cable from carb and disconnected fuel line from pitcock valve. So next i was getting ready to remove the starter cable from the cap starter plug that screws down into an area on the carb.Needless to say it came loose without have to remove the cap starter plug.So i was like.hmmm???? So i was like what the heck is this cable suppost to hook up to.So i decided to pull up schematics on bikebandit.com.It shows that it hooks to a plunger in the carb there.Well, i never seen no plunger.MISSING..LOL...Could this be my issue? And what does this plunger and manuel cable actually do? I would think without this plunger in place that it could be the air issue i was thinking i was having.Any feedback would be awsome! Thanks
