Hey all, new to the forum. I just bought a 2001 King Quad, and the clutch is slipping. I adjusted the play with no improvement, so before I go through the trouble of replacing the clutch disc, I want to see if motor oil in it is the problem. My question is Rotella T4 ok to use? I run in my motorcycles with no issues but I thought I'd get your input.

Hey guys, looking at getting a clutch kit for my '04 700 Twin w/EBS... whats the best clutch kit nowadays? My dad said back in the day (like 20 years ago) he used EPI, but again that was a lot time ago and things change. I was gonna go with them but I read some people said it actually made it so you needed more throttle to get moving, which isn't what I'm wanting. Looking to have better low-mid torque and responsiveness and I wanna be able to start moving with less throttle; recently rode his '22 570 and I was amazed how little you have to touch the throttle to get moving. I know this won't be as good, but hoping it'll at least improve it. Thanks guys

I have a 1987 Yamaha Moto4 250 I got cheaply off someone I know and got it running. Pretty much everything seems sound but the clutch doesn't disengage. It can still be ridden by just putting it into neutral when wanting to stop, but it is quite annoying. Anyone one have ideas?

The clutch cover goes on and fits, but the little L chapped arm that has gear slots is concerning me. It appears it goes to wear the clutch adjust bolts are on the cover. Is there a specific way to tell how it mounts on the gears in relationship with the basket? I don't want to deal it up unless it's right

https://www.amazon.com/Primary-1998-2005-Polaris-Sportsman-Braking/dp/B01G2EEUV2 Anyone ever try these? $500 for a OEM clutch seems high, But $120 seems a little cheap to me. Has anyone tried one with good luck?

1987 YFM350FWTB 350 4x4 Big Bear when going uphill will sometimes act like the clutch realeases then re-engauge all at once. Seems to maybe be little more often if the engine is at about 1/2 throttle instead of at lower rpms. I have the Factory Service manual and checked the external clutch adjustment screw as ok and the H/L/reverse shifter lever linkage as adjusted correctly. It appears to be maybe a internal (inside the case) clutch issue or ?? This is the type Big Bear that has the manual shift lever on the left front fender and has the manual foot shifter lever with 5 speeds forward. Can someone tell me how the primary and secondary clutch operates? I assume one is mechanical and one is centrifugal. (what I'm asking is one clutch for the higher rpms and one for the lower rpms or ???. (the clutch appears to only momentarily release at the higher rpms is why I ask. The cycle has about 3000 miles of low speed through the brush hunting and has been well maintained, oil changed, etc and no deep water or mud useage. Anyone been into a similar issue with the big Bear ATV????

Recently started shifting hard from neutral to first causing it to stall. I'm able to lift up on the shifter and throttle up and slowly let off the shifter, like driving a standard. That is the only way to get it In gear and stay running. Also if I come to a stop and keep it in gear it wants to continue moving, eventually stalling out. I don't have much experience with the bottom end or clutches. I just now replaced friction and steel plates and that made no difference. Don't know what to do now.

I just bought a Yamaha Big Bear 350 from 1992. The previous owner has run it on regular engine oil and I have problems with the clutch slipping. I think that's the reason. So what should I do? - Just change oil and it will be OK? - Clean engine/clutch + new oil? - Or do I need a new clutch? It is guessing the centrifugal clutch that slips. It has two clutches , it also has a "regular" clutch . Anyone who has any experience of using wrong type of oil?

How do I replace the pinion clutch shaft in a 1987 Suzuki LT230 quadrunner? It starts up on the first kick but when I put it in gear it wants to kick up. I can give it gas and put it in gear but my clutch lever isn’t doing anything. SOS

I just bought a 86 Bayou 300 and when it’s running and you shift into a gear the engine stalls and dies. I throttle it up little and it will run and move but the transmission slips really bad. As long as I’m just a little over idle it will move but slips with any more throttle. I’ve been reading that this is probably a centrifical clutch issue. I’ve found an aftermarket clutch for an 88 model but can’t find one for a 86. Are these the same? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, new owner to a Bayou 220 and could use some input from those who have owned these. At idle only, I am hearing a distinctly noticeable amount of chatter noise coming from the lower right side of the engine - right in the the clutch housing area. It's like a light clanking sound like something is loose in there. It goes away as soon as you give it throttle. Shifting in and out of gear is smooth and there is no change in the noise if you have it in or out of gear. The clutch doesn't slip at all, it's just that noise. I can also feel it when my hand is on the the clutch housing. I just replaced the oil and filter with 10w30 motor oil per spec. Any thoughts?

I just recently bought a 1994 Yamaha Timberwolf 4x4 from a buddy who had the wheeler sitting in his garage for 7 years. I got it home and fired it up pushed it out of the garage and tried to shift it and it wouldn't shift. First it would click like it was shifting, but the wheeler wouldn't move and when I hit the gas it revved up like I was in nuetral. After trying some more it became stuck in 1st gear and wouldnt shift at all. But it later broke loose agian and acts like it is in neutral again. I took the motor off the machine to make it easier to work on.After asking friends they were convinced it was a clutch problem but after opening up the casing for the clutch I don't see anything out of the ordinary and am concerned that it may be a transmission problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

I have a 2000 big bear 400 manual shift. Does not have a shift lever on gender like a Kodiak has left foot operated rn12345 on left foot lever. I replaced the stator and pick up coil and now it is difficult to shift. I marked (indexed) the lever, rod and pivot clamp prior to removal and not sure where to go . Maybe a clutch adjustment ? Anyone have a manual for this model ? I was sent a manual but it is for a shiftless Kodiak yet it states big bear as well

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I hope you can help me out. My '99 Polaris 250 Trail boss does this: shifting in to forward the gears grind a bit. Once in gear the rig wants to immediately move forward. If I don't get to the throttle fast enough, she stalls. If I do, off we go. It happens everytime I shift into gear.Could this be caused by dirt inside the clutch sheaves causing the belt to engage early (before any throttle input)? Or what??? Thanks in advance.

Hi all, I have an 86 motor 4 that has starter clutch issues. (YFM225) Because I cant afford to put much money into this old machine, I hope to get some guidance before spending more. (already spent too much!) I have replaced the starter clutch multiple times with used ones that are supposedly good. Each time it fixes the problem for a short time, and then it returns. Sometimes I have noticed the socket head cap screws have loosened. I clean and re-assemble using removable locktite and that seems to help, but still issues with the clutch itself. Any suggestions? Questions, is it maybe the small springs behind the rollers are weak? Regarding the surface on the flywheel that the rollers touch. I have noticed that most of the flywheels I have used do have small wear marks on them. I have smoothed them out using a small stone to the point you can barely feel them. Does this surface need to be perfect? Are clutches and flywheels matched. It seems that depending on which flywheel I use, the timing can vary slightly like its not quite firing at the right time, hard to start, etc. My theory is that there must be slight variances in the keyway location between flywheels. Is my theory correct? Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

I have a 98 sportsman 500. I was riding today and noticed the belt was squeaking on take off. Shortly afterwards the clutch just shuddered like mad and atv stopped. Won't start now and I also have a nice fuel leak from underneath atv.. Any ideas before I tear into it next week?
