  1. I have a 1999 Sportsman 500, it was running fine, than started to lose power in the winter, I adjusted the idle screw and away I went, than a few weeks ago it died, I have found that i am flooding the engine, compression was at 70PSI and due to the compression release mech. i assume i am good as it compared to the same PSI on a 2000 sportsman 500 i have. i cannot start the atv unless i go full throttle and it starts an runs for about 30 sec than dies, again it is flooded. i ordered a new carb off ebay as i could get one for around $40. put that in same issue, i have checked the timing, (good), valves out of adjustment i adjusted to .006 still same issue, i have found the exhaust lobe and rocker arm to have some wear, i have ordered new ones, but am looking for any other input in this area as well. would the exhaust cam and rocker arm cause the engine to flood? i have used a bore scope and the piston liner has good cross hatching still? any input would be great.
  2. I have worked about 4 weeks on my Griz600 and have burnt 2 CDIs up ! I added a wire harness and stator and It starts but runs erratically like spark timing is off ! So I would like to try another CDI but I don’t want to Pay an arm n leg ! Anybody have one ? Thanks
  3. What's going on party people? First, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be here. I recently purchased a 2005 yrs 450 and have yet to run the bike at full throttle. The bike fires up, idles, seems like everything runs fine except a little popping when you let off the throttle or until you hit 5th gear. It runs strong; no bogging or sluggishness until you hit 4th gear and open it up. Then it begins to act like it's out of gas or the about to be out. I can pull over and sit for 5-10 min and it runs strong again until you open the throttle. I have the carb off the bike to clean and wrote down a list of factory and what I found installed. I also listed other key factors and hope someone can help and explain. I'm new to the scene and have no prior mechanical experience but my theory is worst case scenario I have to take it to the shop anyway so why not learn. I actually enjoy it. Lol. Thanks a million. Hope to get back on the trails soon.
  4. Bought brand new petcock and carbetator, turned air fuel needle out 2 turns and machine still acts like its starving 4 fuel on top end. Any ideas?
  5. This past spring, Jonathan worked on a 1991 QuadRunner 250 that came with the fuel pump removed. We didn't find good information about connecting it online, so we made a video. I have a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 700.The other day I has giong up a hill & the ATV acted like it was running out of gas.So I went to the reserve side of tank & still was popping,but only does after running a while like emptying carb bowl. Does anyone have any ideas of whats wrong?Sprayed carb cleaner in intake. You think maybe float stuck down? Any help will be greatly apreciated!
  9. Arctic Cat 2005 500LE automatic. My fuel pump recently started making a "ting, ting, ting" sound. Is it going to fail? The machine runs just fine, but I would hate to get stuck out in the boondocks when this quits.
  10. Got a fueling prob, I pull the line off the pump that goes Into tank, no fuel comes out, could it be stopped up? If not where is the best place to get one

I have a 2000 Arctic Cat 500 4x4 (Green w/Manual Trans), and it started having problems cranking......and I noticed that my crank case was full of fuel.....I took carb off and cleaned....ran a while, and still have fuel going to the crank case......any other ideas of what I might try to fix this issue?
  14. I'm looking to get a YFZ 450 and I'm wondering how much benefit I would get from buying an 09 or newer. I hear carbs can be a hassle but is it really that big a deal? Btw this will be my first quad since I was 12 years old. I have ridden street bikes quite a bit and I never had any problems with my carb. Educate me?
  15. Hi all... Would like to pick your brains for help if I could? I have a 86 Bayou 300 that I bought as a basket case. Long story short...rebuilt the top end, fixed a BUNCH of stuff on it, rebuilt the carb...cleaned the gas tank and sealed it, fresh gas......ect. Fired it up today and it runs! Kind of..... When I go a little above idle it starts to bog....The throttle diaphram slide is pulling up as it should but it flutters when it bogs. Ive adjusted the air screw for idle and it idles nicely. It has no affect on the bogging though. If I hold the diaphram slide so it wont open up I can blip the throttle and get higher RPms with no problem. Let go of the slide and it bogs... Sounds like not enough gas..but why? May have to take the carb apart and blow it through with cleaner...might have a spec of dirt in it...or something. It is a Keihin cvk32 carb. Has anyone else experianced this? Thanks in advance. Tom H.
  16. hi: i have a 01 kawasaki bayou 300 4x4 atv., that a leaking fuel fiting, i have repaired the shut-off valve, by installing a repair kit, in it. but it is still leaking fuel, around the fuel outlet fitting,. i have also replaced the o-rings, don't known how many it takes. on the fitting. there must a clip or clamp, or some type of retainer or something that holds this outlet fitting in place. please help me. thanks.
  17. [ATTACH]821[/ATTACH] I was wondering if anyone here has tried "Starbrite-Star Tron" Fuel treatment. Its a Enzyme Gas Treatment for all engines and made especially for ethanol. I've been using this fuel additive for just over a year now and I can tell you that I love this stuff. I find that my bike actually runs better when I pour about a shot glass in the tank every time i fuel up. So I was just wondering if anyone else has tried it and what they thought of this product.   18. hi everyone im new to the forum, i got a chinese quad 4 months ago and before you start saying thats what you get for not getting a branded quad i got it for €100. my quad occasionally back fires when i take off and if i leave it to idel it eventually sputters and dies.. any help is much appreciated. p.s. i have the ability to work with it mechanically but i dont have any special tools
  19. I got the quad from my dads friend and he said it ran good just been sitting awhile. It will start on starting fluid and kinda idle awhile but as soon as you give it gas it bogs down and stalls. So i thought it was the carb took that apart and cleaned it up and still does the same. Its gotta be a fuel problem. Could of the fuel pump dried up and isnt pumping right? Or any other ideas any help would be great. Thanks
  20. Anyone have any suggestions on how high of an octane to run in a honda 300 trx ? previous owner said he ran 93 in it, its been jetted and has a racing exhaust but no further work done was wandering if 93 was ok or should i drop it down ? Any thoughts / input appreciated !

  22. where is the location of the fuel screw on a raptor 660. anyone got a picture or diagram. also is there two of them since there is two carbs. im trying to help my friend on his raptor and i dont know much bout raptors
  23. someone has pulled my fuel line off the fuel tank of my Shineray xy250stix quad bike...the line is still connected to the motor...where do I re-attatch it to the tank?
