  2. I just bought two 1985 TRX250's from my father-in-law. One runs great, the other not so much. The one is having issues with the shifter. The shifter seems to be resting lower than normal. When I press the shifter downward, it just pops back up. Any thougjts as to what the issue might be?
  3. Hi everyone! I have a 1986 yamaha moto4 200 that's been sitting for a while! Cleaned the carb, replaced engine oil, put fresh gas in it. Got it running and went for a ride! It was running great just a little backfire once in a while! I barely made it home on the way back and now the bike won't run at all since then! It will start if I give a little bit of throttle but dies instantly as soon as I let go off the throttle! And even if I try to rev it up it'll sound like its not getting enough gas.. it revs up a couple hundred rpm's and backfires through the carb.. it almost sounds as if I was trying to take off from zero in 5th gear! Nothing is seized though! I dissasembled the head and the piston and cylinder are fine! Rebuilt the carb, replaced the ignition source coil.. I don't know what to do anymore.. compression test shows 90 psi Specs are 128 psi but i'm not sure if I trust my compression tester.. any ideas? Thanks!!
  4. I just wanted to let other RZR Owners know about a problem with the Ranger Razor Shifting. When I got my RZR, I found that the transmission wouldn't go into High unless you held the shift lever back and gave it some gas. It also has to be pushed forward and rocked to get it into Park... Not good. I took it to the Polaris Dealer and they adjusted the shift cable which didn't help, and they told me it was something I would have to live with. Well, my factory warranty was going to expire in about four days so I took it to another Dealer in St Helens, Oregon. They tried to adjust the cable too, but said it might take a while for me to get it back if they had to remove the transmission to check it out. Well it turns out the detend arm that makes the tranny click as it goes from gear to gear has a ball bearing with a spring behind it. The ball bearing makes the actual click as it goes throught the detent notches. The spring behind the Ball bearing was bent or squished about 1/4th of an inch so it wasn't making the tranny go into the end detents (Park, and High). They ordered the new spring, but called me a few days later saying the part was on backorder. This tells me there are a few RZR's out there with this same problem. So anyone having this issue should get it fixed before the Warranty expires, or at least be able to know there is a way to fix it. I hope this helps fellow RZR owners. Phoneman2 UPDATE. The Polaris Dealership called and informed me that the spring came in, and they installed it, but it did not fix the problem. They are going through the Transmission and should have answers for me very soon. Stand by. ok, I got it back a few weeks ago and finally had a chance to try it out. The Dealership "Columbia Honda Suzuki Polaris" in St Helens Oregon did a fantastic job. The problem with the shifting and park seemed to be the Gears. They were designed wrong and wouldn't mesh correctly. The old gear has the mating surface at 90 degrees, and the new gear has the mating surfaces at an angle so the gears could actually mesh and go into gear without revving the engine or rocking the RZR back and forth. They had the RZR for over a month and a half, but that's because they waited on parts forever. I highly recommend anyone looking for a great dealership to do buisness with, check them out. I am buying my next Off Road Vehicle from them. Thanks for your time.
  5. I have a 2002 450 foreman es. When doing several shifting into reverse like when plowing it starts to become troublesome to get back to a foreward gear.Have to keep pressing the shift buttom several times to get out of reverse.Has anyone had this issue ?Is there a fix to this problem? Thanks
  6. Hi everyone. New to the forum! Hers is my issue. I have a Suzuki LT80 (Not sure what year-I think it is 2002) and it will not start. I was told the starter is new and it has a new battery. I checked the battery and it reads 12.5V. When I hit the start button all I get is a click in the black 4 prong relay. I also unplugged it and jumped the 2 big wires but all it does is spark and get hot. It also gets hot if I keep pushing the start button. I also unplugged the white plug by the gas tank, hooked a wire to it and tried a battery charger...same thing...wires get hot. Then I removed the starter and used the battery charger on it. I hooked the black to the starter casing and the red to the hot lead on the starter...all it did was spark and make the battery charger hum louder. Is the starter bad? Do I need a relay? Both? I also know about the red button under the plastic. It wasn't even tripping so I bypassed it just to try what I could. I'm at a loss. I just want it to run for my son to ride. If anyone can help please do so. Thanks in advance!
  7. OK i had an 05 king quad 700 up untill last year, i owned it for 3 years and it was the best machine i ever owned. i sold it only because i was buying a house and needed the money to put down, after getting settled in and finances back in order i had to go buy another one. unfourtinatly i jumped on the first " Good Deal " i came across and man im paying for it. bought an 07 king quad 700 with 1300 miles on it, came with a plow, winch and a nice wheel kit for $3,500. i jumped on it took it for a test ride and mechanicly everything seemed good, cosmeticly it is pretty scratched and you could tell it was well ridden but everything seemed to work just fine I took it home and rode it for about a week with no problems and decided to get some beefier springs, some skid plates, and a few misc parts for it as well as change all the fluids since the guy i bought it from i doubt did much maitenence. after putting it all back together my 4wd light is on on the display but the 4wd will not engage. the light just stays on and if i put the dif lock switch up it just blinks??? it was working perfectly before i took it apart but i did nothing with any of the drive train, checked the dif fluids but they seemed clean and full so i left them alone. any suggestions, ive tested the switch and relay and both seem to be working ok next problem I changed the oil and now every time the machine sets for 2 or more days it smokes like crazy when i start it. it will do this for 10-15 seconds then clears up and has no sign of burniung anything or smoking or anything, only at first when it sits for a few days. its definetly an oil smoke, i checked to make sure i didnt over fill it and double checked everything...im lost.... any help with either problem would be great
  8. I have an 03' 80cc raptor that doesn't want to start from a cold start. It turns over nice. I can put it in gear, drift it and it starts right up. After its warmed up, I can shut it off and start it up using the electric start with no problem. I cleaned the carb, put a new spark plug in, checked the spark. I put a new battery in and a new starter. The choke plate screws are still there. My friend said it might be a compression issue. Any ideas out there?
  9. I have a 2009 Can Am 400 Outlander and I went in the mountains for a ride and my bike stalled 3 times. It would start again immediately, then it would let me ride for 1/2 a mile and then stall again. This repeated itself until I got down at a lower level closer to sea level. Then the bike was fine again for the rest of the day. I purchased a service manual but no troubleshooting topic in it to cover this issue. Has anyone else had this sort of problem with this model bike. I hunt and fish that area and I don't need that aggrevation. So if I cant find a solution then the bike gotta go. Hope someone can help me. Either post a solution here or email me at [email protected].
  10. After a number of years without a quad, i picked up two quads to restore. I have been able to get the 1985 lf185 running. I am new to this site so, i thought i would look for some help. The lf185 will start and runs like a top once you get it started. I can run it for a long period of time, it sputters from time to time and once shut off, will not start. I can go back in a couple of hours and then it will start with one pull. After it starts, it will rev like a banshee until it adjust both the idle and air adjustments on the carb. Yesterday after i started it, i picked up the back end to move it while it was running and it stalled out immediately and again no start. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Your northern quad enthusiast.
