  1. Hi everyone! I have a 1986 yamaha moto4 200 that's been sitting for a while! Cleaned the carb, replaced engine oil, put fresh gas in it. Got it running and went for a ride! It was running great just a little backfire once in a while! I barely made it home on the way back and now the bike won't run at all since then! It will start if I give a little bit of throttle but dies instantly as soon as I let go off the throttle! And even if I try to rev it up it'll sound like its not getting enough gas.. it revs up a couple hundred rpm's and backfires through the carb.. it almost sounds as if I was trying to take off from zero in 5th gear! Nothing is seized though! I dissasembled the head and the piston and cylinder are fine! Rebuilt the carb, replaced the ignition source coil.. I don't know what to do anymore.. compression test shows 90 psi Specs are 128 psi but i'm not sure if I trust my compression tester.. any ideas? Thanks!!
  2. Long story short. I bought this off my neighbor and only has 3 gears. The part that holds the shifter rod on broke, this is on the inside where the clutch is. The rod moved out of its spot and when they welded it back together only has 3 gears. I have a new case for it just need to know how to get the shifter in the right spot before I put it back together. I am missing the indicator that shows me where neutral is. A link to a good Manuel would be great. Thanks
  3. I have a 1996 kawasaki bayou 300 that i cant seem to get running for more then about 10 seconds i think i need it to spin a little faster. i had it giving it to me and havent ever worked on a four wheeler yet. i have already cleaned the carb and did all the maintainance things i could think of. and am hoping for a good starting point Thanks Guys!!
  4. I have a 2010 Z400 and it will start up an idle fine but when you go to give it gas it just stales out and wont run at high temp. Any ideas?
  5. i have 01 300 king quad shuts its self off when ever found has no spark let it set for a while will restart anyone had this problem and what was the fix thanks
  6. I have a 2006 rhino and it seems to only go about 20 it just seems like the clutch is bad or something anyone had a smiler problem or any suggestions?
  7. Hey guys im new to the forum, but i was at my girlfriends house and noticed an old quad on the side of her house, i said hey what are you doing with it? and she said ill help you load it on your truck so i found its a older kawi bayou 300 2wd, seems like a nice quad, ive always had quads since i was little and wouldnt mind adding one to the collection, its been sitting for about 5 years? it rolls good, tires are kind of holding air, no battery but i rigged a car battery on it, i can get the starter to spin but the spark plug wont fire, is this common on them? i have no idea what year it is, anyway to find out? but the coil is getting power, what else should i inspect/replace, i dont want to go crazy on it, its not in the best shape, if its something big ill just part it out or just sell it, its seems like it would be fun, but just need some advice! thank you!
  8. I have a Kazuma 250 cougar. When I bought it the starter worked but I had to replace the battery. Then I had some smoke come from where the starter bolts up and then I needed a new starter put one and and it works but the starter doesn't turn the motor over. I can hear the starter ingauge and turn the sprocket but it's not turn it over any help would be greatly apperciated
  9. Hey guys, I'm new to here and could use a little advice. I just recently purchased a 1992 Bayou 300 that I have been fixing up. Once I got the bike running I discovered that the bike has shifting problems. Basically, I'm having a hard time getting it to shift into first from neutral. I can get the bike into reverse without any problems, but forward gears are giving me problems. Two things I've discovered on this: When I adjust the clutch improperly, basically too much CW on the screw thereby giving the shift pedal to much play which is also adding too much tension on the secondary clutch, I can get the bike to shift into the forward gears. This is not an option however because the shift pedal when the clutch is not properly adjusted doesn't return to center. The other thing I noticed while trying to find this problem is that if I loosen the secondary clutch springs. I can shift into first without any issues by popping the shift lever up with my finger. Wouldn't this mean that the gear shift drum is rotating and I might be having a problem with the secondary clutch? I'm just dredging the news that I might have a bent shift fork in there. I should also say that I have been able to drive this bike through all the gears when the clutch was not properly adjusted, but it does not shift correctly and I stopped on account of doing damage to the bike. I should also say that I tried replacing the shift level spring #92144 and change drum lever spring #92081 which didn't help at all. I have looked over all the clutch release components short of pulling out the shift lever shaft. I have not pull off any of the clutches as well in that I've been doing a lot of my inspections with a mirror or feel. The only thing I have found which didn't turn out to be the problem was a slightly loose crank case pin (the one the is in center of the shift lever) which I have tightened. What's throwing be off here is that when I loosen the secondary clutch springs, the shift lever will click up easily thereby turning the star looking cam change drum. I just would hate having to split the crank case open and not find anything wrong so I'm hoping to exhaust all my other options before going to the trouble. From what i can see, I don't notice any wear from the components that I can access and the shift lever shaft seems to rotate the shift lever true and straight. I'm just at my wits end here and could really use some advice or thoughts. Thanks
  10. i have a 300 suzuki king qaud wont fire but its stuck in super low is that a problemor is it somethin else i check the stator with a voltmeter itits fire ther:aargh:
  11. I went to move my 2007 Outty 400 today and I couldn't get it to shift properly. When it is on the top side of the Neutral notch it is in Neutral and when it is between Park and Reverse it is in Reverse. Also, the only gears that show on the display are R and N. No park, hi or lo. Any ideas?
  12. I recently trade my dirtbike for a 2002 raptor, with some problems. First of all it idles really fast and when you hit the gas it bogs way down. Thought it might have been something in the carburetor so took it off and cleaned it all up, put it back on and it was the same or maybe worse. Then it doesn't run off choke, and even with the choke on it runs very crappy. Then when I got it the electric start button was stuck, so I ordered a new switch for it. That was 5 days ago and now it does not work. .. It felt hot so maybe it got burned up somehow? Also the guy I got it from put some kind of aftermarket pipe on it. Would that mess with the gas/air ratio? The pipe is so cheap it is basically just a tube on the end of the exhaust it does nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kyle.
  13. I've got a 06 750 brute force and its blowing oil up thro the breather box I've checked the oil in it and its a little below full and I've had the engine rebuilt less than aa year ago. Is there anything I can do to stop the oil or make it where its not getting in my carbs. Ive been told that all brute forces do this when you run them wide open for a good ways. But mine is doing this when I'm ridden it about 25 MPH and I don t think it should been doing it going that fast it really shouldn't been doing it at all . I would love to hear from somebody thats had this problem maybe you can help me out its really getting old have to work on it just ride it . The last time I rode it it pushed oil up thro the breather box and killed the engine there has got to be a way to stop it or reroute the oil.
  14. Got an 04 yamaha wolverine. Was running fine but slowly bogged down and would only run at idle. Cleaned the carb several times all jets and passageways are clean. Bike has full compression, spark and fuel. Checked the timing and valve clearances and checked out fine. Even put gas down cylinder and bike still wont even bark. The only thing I can think of is that the flywheel may have spun the woodruff key. I am absolutely stumped with this and any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again
  15. COYOTE PROBLEM The Sierra Club and the U.S. Forest Service were presenting an alternative to Wyoming ranchers for controlling the coyote population. It seems that after years of the ranchers using the tried and true methods of shooting and/or trapping the predators, the tree-huggers had a 'more humane' solution. What they proposed was for the animals to be captured alive; the males would then be castrated and let loose again. Therefore the population would be controlled. This was ACTUALLY proposed to the Wyoming Wool and Sheep Grower's Association by the Sierra Club and the USFS. All of the ranchers thought about this amazing idea for a couple of minutes. Finally, an old boy in the back of the conference room stood up, tipped his hat back and said, 'Son, I don't think you understand our problem. Those coyotes ain't f*$kin' our sheep - they're eatin' 'em!'
  16. Everytime I try to go to the home page or try to send someone a PM it tells me to log in and when I try it doesnt go through...it tells me to log in again. But when I go to the forum...it says welcome fox300exchic on the side. Anyone else having this problem? I tried sending a PM to admin or quadcrazy but I couldnt send one.
  17. I have a warrior that i bored .50 over. and changed the cam chain. Well the problem is: 1. It cranks really hard with choke on,and will only start while cranking with choke on and quickly shut choke off while still cranking...then it fires. 2. When i rev it up a little it takes a while to come back to a idle. And dont idle well. 3. When it is idling, It makes some kind of flat sound and dies, Not a sputtering die, but a brupt sudden die. Almost like somthing in the engine catches and kills the engine. But not always....sometimes it will make that nosie and sounds like its gonna die but goes thru it. One time when i was cranking it the starter wires started smoking. I also changed the cam chain. My guess is a timing issue. I unscrewed the sight window on the fly wheel and put the "T" on the mark, and put the cam sprocket mark on the top notch on the head. The catching sound that sometimes kills it concerns me. Could it be the idle gear off the starter? Or could it be my starter messing up? I thought maybe a gear in tranny catching slightly, but i took chain off and watched the sprocket, that wasnt it.
