I bought a 2008 Suzuki LTZ 400, and right away noticed it wasn't wanting to shift into 3rd well, if at all. I opened my clutch basket, and a little piece of a gear fell out. A friend helped me strip the motor down, and ended up changing 4th gear (that's where the piece was from) and I believe third gear drive. He said everything else looked good, so I put the bike back together and started it up for a test ride. Right away, I noticed the same shifting issue, first and second go right in, but doesn't want to go into third. The other issue that may be related, is I have a hard time finding neutral. Most of the time it goes right from first to second, and I have to lightly click down for neutral, and it takes a few tries. Please give me any advice for things to look at, or reasons I would still be having this issue after changing gears. Maybe the original problem is what caused third gear to break in the first place?

1988 lt230 Suzuki Having problem with getting into neutral have to do it by hand to get into reverse keeps skipping into 2nd is there a adjustment I can do I'm new to this

I just got a Z400 and took it out for the first time. Seemed to run really well without issues until after I has ridden for a bit. So real quick, I've never owned and barely ridden a quad before. First time riding I got a little ballsy and started doing donuts. Was doing well until I let off the gas too soon by a little hill, and didn't turn quite enough. I went sideways on the hill and rolled her😅. Well I didn't roll too hard, and pretty much just into the right side, and the front brake and throttle pushed down a little, so I had to adjust them back. Shortly after that, I noticed it wasn't going into neutral without screwing around with it, like it kept passing it right to second, and then riding, it doesn't want to shift into third. I tried and different speeds because I thought maybe the rpms have to be up, and it did go in, but didn't seem to be at a certain rev point or speed. Once I get to third it goes right into fourth and fifth. Has anyone else has this issue, and do you think I knocked something out of wack when I rolled it?

My machine sticks in reverse until it is completely warmed up and then it shifts perfectly once it is completely warm. I have to literally yank up on the shifter to get it out of reverse. It will shift up and down fine in the forward gears just not reverse. It's a 2005 Honda Foreman TRX500FM5. I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I tried searching it but didn't come up with anything. Thanks in advance. Cheers Don.

I just recently bought a 1994 Yamaha Timberwolf 4x4 from a buddy who had the wheeler sitting in his garage for 7 years. I got it home and fired it up pushed it out of the garage and tried to shift it and it wouldn't shift. First it would click like it was shifting, but the wheeler wouldn't move and when I hit the gas it revved up like I was in nuetral. After trying some more it became stuck in 1st gear and wouldnt shift at all. But it later broke loose agian and acts like it is in neutral again. I took the motor off the machine to make it easier to work on.After asking friends they were convinced it was a clutch problem but after opening up the casing for the clutch I don't see anything out of the ordinary and am concerned that it may be a transmission problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.

My 06 800 Outlander is getting more difficult to shift as it gets older. I have to rev the engine to get it to engage the chosen gear. Any suggestions to make it easier? Thanks Kb
