  1. I recently rebuilt a customers Polaris Sportsman 550 transmission, re-shimmed the synchronizer, and shimmed the primary drive clutch for much easier shifting as these are very difficult to get into gear or shift from one gear to another. The video is after shimming the drive clutch for more belt clearance. 20220419_094923.mp4
  2. Bought a used Honda TRX350 and replaced carb (had sat with gas in it), flushed tank, replaced petcock and fuel line. Got it to start up and idle fine, rev's ok. It's electronic shift on the left handlebar and I hear it clicking, the neutral light turns off when not in neutral. Won't move at all. Usually can't get it to shift back to neutral. I've tried the manual shift tool also, still won't move. I've been reading about the electric shift problems with these unit and suspect the shift mechanism is at fault. Possibly the clutch also. I see blue RTV around th front cover, so someone has been into it before. Any advice or experiences to share?
  3. We replaced clutch plates, friction plates, primary and secondary clutches or centrifugal clutch. Has 4 stroke oil in it . We were told pressure plate or the four springs on the secondary clutch. What happens is once you go about 50 yards the trani starts to slip.
  4. Have an '02 Ford Taurus that's been grandma driven for all of it's 95k miles. After doing some very easy driving in town for a couple hours today I accelerated up to about 50 and noticed the car didn't seem to be responding to the gas pedal anymore. Looked down and the engine was doing 4k rpm so I let off the gas. Pumped the gas a couple times to see if the car responded and got nothing. Coasted to a stop in a safe lane and tested it in all the gears...nothing. The car stays put if you put it in park but you can roll it back when in any other gear position. The gear leaver on the tree does still give resistance when you move between gears. No music was playing and there was no noticeable sound whenever the breakage occurred. Called a friend and was advised to check the gear shift linkage at the top of the transmission. I'm not familiar with what the arm's full range of motion is supposed to be but I noted it's position while in park and low 1 and it seems to be moving well. Felt the connections and they seemed solid. Without the benefit of being able to do a proper run-up to a transmission fluid check I wiped and re-dipped the stick and it read fairly high although I hadn't added any fluid for at least 10k miles. The fluid was just a shade darker than light pink and although I didn't check specifically it didn't seem to have a burnt smell. There's no way low engine oil could cause something like this is there? Any ideas?
  5. not sure where to post this but, I have a 2016 yamaha grizzly 700 with a blown up transmission (again). I was wondering if a 2015 Yamaha grizzly 700 Main drive transmission shaft and gears shift drum will fit on my 2016?
  6. Got myself another project. Got it running only to find it has a transmission problem. now I am trying to rebuild it but problem is the bolt that holds on the pull start recoil gear. Any ideas if this is left threaded or right threaded. Left loosy or righty tighty. Thanks. Hender
  7. This is more of an informational fix I wanted to share.. My Grizzly has been getting harder and harder to shift this winter and today was completely stuck and I needed to plow the few inches that came down this morning. First thought...oh no, tranny...but it’s winter and maybe it’s iced up. I pulled off the plastic to see what was going on and indeed I did find the drain tube iced up. I took the blow dryer out and de-iced it. Quick fix, I never really thought about the shifter drain tube icing up before, shifts like new! FA04AC3B-4FB0-4764-AFD9-1492F5CC790B.MOV
  8. in need of a transmission for my zill. does anybody have one or know somewhere i could order one. all of the oem web pages ive viewed does not have it available..
  9. this bike! did this guy sucker me or what.. ok, looks like this means something is bent that I do not see or one rod is longer vs the other? how long do you think this would last before it ripped into the tire? this is the right side, left side tire clears no problem I can not find them on www.kawasakipartshouse.com
  10. Hi there, new owner to a Bayou 220 and could use some input from those who have owned these. At idle only, I am hearing a distinctly noticeable amount of chatter noise coming from the lower right side of the engine - right in the the clutch housing area. It's like a light clanking sound like something is loose in there. It goes away as soon as you give it throttle. Shifting in and out of gear is smooth and there is no change in the noise if you have it in or out of gear. The clutch doesn't slip at all, it's just that noise. I can also feel it when my hand is on the the clutch housing. I just replaced the oil and filter with 10w30 motor oil per spec. Any thoughts?
  11. I just recently bought a 1994 Yamaha Timberwolf 4x4 from a buddy who had the wheeler sitting in his garage for 7 years. I got it home and fired it up pushed it out of the garage and tried to shift it and it wouldn't shift. First it would click like it was shifting, but the wheeler wouldn't move and when I hit the gas it revved up like I was in nuetral. After trying some more it became stuck in 1st gear and wouldnt shift at all. But it later broke loose agian and acts like it is in neutral again. I took the motor off the machine to make it easier to work on.After asking friends they were convinced it was a clutch problem but after opening up the casing for the clutch I don't see anything out of the ordinary and am concerned that it may be a transmission problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated thank you.
