Hi, Just acquired this Kodiak at auction. Bought on impulse (low cost, fairly clean was my excuse). Did hear it run, started on 1st kick, no smoke, idled well. Problem....go to load on trailer and extreme clunking/popping from rear end. This is 1st ATV, other than a 90CC Polaris Sportsman for a Grandchild, that I have messed with.
It seems to not have had a lot of wrenching done to it, other than someone has weld the rear axle wheel hub plate to the axle (welding covers all splines). From the diagrams I have seen this model the axle housing and brake drum/backing plate are on the left side of ATV.....mine is on the right.
Finally, getting to the point. I am trying to remove rear axle shaft. Removing from right (drum/housing area) to left Will not come out....does have some movement left to right (along with slop up & down).
