  1. As the quad cost me $75 when I picked it up I don’t see the benefit in spending more than that for just the brakes. Now that I have a battery and don’t have to jump the quad there is no problem for me to hold the front brake lever in when stopped or just shutting the quad off.
  2. I have ridden the quad two more times since the first start and would now like to fix the rear brakes. In one of my first posts in this thread I falsely called the broken brake cylinder a clutch cylinder. In the image you see a brake cylinder with the bubble where the liquid should go shattered. How can I get the rear brakes fully operational?
  3. It lives! And seems quite powerful for only 8.8 horsepower. Granted this is my first ATV but whatever. Thank you guys for all the help, especially Frank Angerano for assisting me throughout the repair.
  4. I took the float bowl and the top of the carb off. What else should I take off? I've never done anything like this before.
  5. I have to remove the float to clean the needle valve correct? I just sprayed under the float but apparently that might not have been good enough.
  6. I cleaned the carb and the quad ran on starting fluid, however in the process of cleaning the carb I could not get carb cleaner through the place where gas enters the carb from the tank. I fear this might be my problem. How can I unclog this? This is the connection I am talking about. And BTW the fuel line does not have gas in it when attached to carb but petcock is not clogged I tried to start the quad without a gas cap and it didn’t help.
  7. I tried what you suggested and the quad started right up no problem! It ran for a very short time. I assume my next step is to fully disassemble the carburetor and clean it?
  8. It sparks but doesn’t start. I am pretty sure it’s getting fuel but how would I check that? Fuel is running through the petcock for sure.
  9. The left side headlight is indeed working. Is it possible that I don’t have spark when turning the motor over by hand but do when jumping it? Every other time I tested for spark I did so by turning the motor over with the starter.
  10. In the process of removing the carburetor I think I might have disconnected a wire or two. After fully reassembling the quad and hooking it up for a jump I pressed the starter button and nothing happened. I gave it a closer look and saw that a wire coming from the assembly got unplugged and when I plugged it in the starter motor spun. However I still cannot get the quad to start and the front right headlight is not working either. I have no spark.
  11. The carburetor plunger is not moving up and down with the throttle. Is this an issue?
  12. Removed the carburetor completely from the quad bar the connection to the throttle (I still need help with that). Anyways what is the best way to clean a carburetor? I just saw your post on how to remove the carb after I wrote my previous post. Thanks for the help!
  13. Sorry for not posting updates in a while. The stator works! I ordered a new one and figured out how to wire it in and now it sparks strong! I have spark and compression but no fuel. I am going to remove the carb and fuel petcock to clean them both as I see no fuel in the fuel line. One question: How do I remove this throttle thing on the carburetor so I can take off the carb completely?
  14. To get to the starter clutch I had to remove the stator. When reassembling the flywheel and stator I might’ve installed it backwards but I don’t think so after looking at it some more. Anyways since the motor is a gy6 motor would a general gy6 wiring diagram work?
  15. Is it possible that in the process of replacing the starter clutch I installed the stator backwards?
  16. It was hard to take a reading between the two yellow wires as for some reason it kept flashing between 62.5 and 0 rapidly. There is connectivity between the yellow wire and ground.
  17. I get 62.5 ohms between the yellow wires, 200 ohms between both yellow wires and the black wire, 200 ohms between the green and black wire, and no connectivity between green wire and yellow wire. Here is a photo with the wires. The red connector at the bottom does not lead to anything by the way.
  18. I think I did the test right. There was connectivity between every wire and the frame of the quad. Is this a possible result? I might have done the test wrong but what I did was set the meter on ohms and connect it to the wire coming out of the stator on one side and a point on the frame on the other end. The meter showed a reading near or in the kilo ohms every time.
  19. Even more searching has led me to find that one of the wires running out of the ignition coil is black with a yellow stripe, coincidentally the same color as the ones not connected to anything on the CDI and ignition switch. I’m no electrician but are you sure that the black and yellow wire running out of the CDI is an accessory wire? The whole quad electrical system seems to have been heavily tampered with if that makes a difference.
  20. There is a wire connected to the stator that is not attached to anything else, leaving 3 wires actually connected. I assume this might be an issue.
  21. Never mind, it appears that the diagram is for a Baja Dune 150 buggy not an ATV. All other images are too low quality to read.
  22. I checked a wiring diagram for the quad and the only outgoing wire appears to be the black and white wire (the rest do not appear to be connected).
