  1. I had a recent issue with a 1999 Bear Tracker that is new to me for the last 3~4 months. It was running great and started having intermittent spark issues after running it for a few minutes or longer. Replaced ignition coil and boot on a hunch... Tested the pickup coil (GW/RW) and got something way out of spec (~5.2kOhms? On a in-spec range from 189~231 ohm). Secondary coil was reading in spec (300 ohm against range of >270 ~ <330 ohm). Ordered a new pickup and gasket from RMStator for right at $40 delivered to TX. Installed new pickup coil and still no spark. Thought about buying new stator and CDI... Disconnected the CDI from harness and hit it with a heat gun on high for about 5 minutes. Turning every 30s, almost melting the plastic on the outer case - got it pretty hot. Plugged in and had strong spark and runs good. Probably a CDI that was bad / going bad / will go bad with this "bush" fix of heating the CDI. I think this may be one of the few ways to check a CDI if your are out of options...
