I’ll be going over mine 85’ LT230GE and share any troubleshooting fixes I do on mine. Currently doesn’t run but turns over.

Running the fuel selector on the lower one won’t hurt anything until you get the new one. I see assemblies are available. I would replace the whole petcock and see what happens.

I’ve thought about this many times and for me pointed down towards the ground is best.

I have a two bank battery Tender for the last ten years and it works great.

I would bet the stator is an issue when it get warm.

I also just picked up a 85’ LT230 and the rear drum appears to be locked. Hoping to tear into it soon. I’ll share any info I get when I tear into the front.

I’ve done several and buy is better and easier. My favorite is High Lifter and I’ve done them on the 500s, 700s, 450/570s and RZR 570 and 800s.

My first quad was a barn find 1999 Polaris Sportsman 4x4 I picked up for $100. That caused a cascading event and now my friends have spent 10s of $1000s and we as a group have many quads and side by sides.

I just got mine fired up today. She was only running in the choke lever in the carb pulled out and choked on the handle.
It settled down and I was able to close the choke on the carb but still needed it to be choked on the handle (1/2 the movement than with the choke pulled on the carb).
It couldn’t find the pilot screw setting till later in the evening and for mine GE shaft model 2-3/8 turns. I did clean the carb earlier and made sure everything was clean and cleared. I’m hoping the issue was due to pilot a screw.
Next up will be valve adjustment and I’ll report more.
