  1. Nothing wrong with Tomboys.
  2. Suzuki 650 "Savage".. I bought it new 14yrs ago. I put 30k miles on it. Suzuki stopped production, not sure what year. It's a single cylinder, extremely lightweight, belt driven "Savage" correctly named.. note: Suzuki changed the name to S40 (40 cubic inch displacement)
  3. Make certain the vacuum hose to the petcock isn't giving you a massive vacuum leak in your induction intake
  4. Good morning everyone.. yes it's still morning here in Wyoming
  5. I also noticed the lead free solder is slightly corrosive. I don't mean acidic flux, even the rosin core lead free stuff seems corrosive
  6. Like bigfatkahuna said, we don't really enjoy electrical problems
  7. I purchased the CDI module through Amazon for only $22 but it's not OEM. It's made in China with Free returns. The waiting is eating up the riding season
  8. Thanks for the replies friends. Waiting for the new CDI module now.
  9. Glad someone is having fun. Mine is new to me and I'm still chasing electrical problems 😭
  10. So now this "new to me" Kowhockey has ANOTHER problem. Replacing the rectifier cured the charging problem, rode around for a while, Yahoo!.. but this morning it wouldn't start, hmm 🤔 checking for spark, nuttin.. CDI igniter module bad. It's not the coil because when the key is turned off the spark knocks me down. Glad I got this old quad cheap because I'm replacing lots of electrical parts. Also found 3 blown fuses in the toolkit. 😭
  11. Correct, thanks for your input
  12. That's currently my part of the nation, Wyoming.. but grew up in Florida. North of lake Okeechobee Florida is ATV friendly
  13. Thanks for that.
  14. If you ever get stumped message me. I've been a pro mechanic for a VERY long time
  15. My current tires look like your aggressive tire in the photo of just the tire. I'm guessing the other photo shows the A1 ag tires. Those have similar tread to my diesel tractor
  16. Only battery voltage was showing at the rectifier, not enough to charge the battery
  17. On motorcycles you can buy tires suitable for mud or pavement. Actually they do neither well, but I plan on riding on pavement to get to the woods. My current tires create weird characteristics on pavement. Any decent tires suitable for pavement and dirt?
  18. I found a local source for 93 octane ethanol free. It runs ok on 93 but when traveling I'm stuck buying the airport gas. Carrying 5 gallon jugs behind my seat scares me. It's ok in the back of a pickup but behind my seat 😰
  19. FYI: I used a volt meter to test the stator/rotor output. Pulled the plug on the rectifier/regulator to access the 3 wires coming from the stator. The other 2 wires are 12v pos and negative so easy to identify the 3 stator wires, which are yellow on my Kowhockey. You should see around 30v AC not DC coming from the engine stator. Test all three wires to EACH OTHER not ground. Remember the stator puts out AC like an alternator. The rectifier converts the AC into DC to charge the battery. On my case the rectifier/regulator was bad, obvious because the 3 stator wires showed 30v AC
  20. Smart keeping ethanol out of the small engines. I do the same but it's getting almost impossible to find ethanol free gas. I have an OLD small plane that needs ethanol free AND 100 octane. Most airports sell it but they have no competition so $5 or more per gallon
  21. I downloaded a service manual here with wiring schematic
  22. Too hot here (WY) to wear black. Boots help with the rattle snakes but they can strike pretty high if they're pissed off
  23. I removed the winch, mounting brackets, and relay box from mine. If someone wants it all for $75 they can have it. Shipping might be high due to the weight. Gary
