Hi I have a 2005 yamaha 400 big bear. When I run it without the breather cover on it runs good. This is without the air filter. As soon as I put the lid on and snap it down tight I have no middle or high rpm. Any ideas. I've checked the pipes from the air breather and all are clear. No animals nesting in them.

The behavior you're describing sounds like the jetting is rich. When you cleaned the carb, did you use any hard objects to clean out passages?

Shifter shaft was broken so it sat for awhile. So with it sitting so long I figured I would clean the carb when I received the new shifter shaft and installed it. I noticed the intake rubber manifold is hard now with some tiny cracks. I'm guessing it's starting to get old.

      Fixing for a friend. Atv was at a different friends house to be fixed and he rebuilt the carb and had it running nice, then it shut off and no more. He replaced the key and the coil.
       
      So he got busy, so I am helping, I checked the wiring from the stator to the cdi, and from the cdi to the coil. All is good. I checked resistance on the pickup coil, good, and on the source coil, open. I buy a new stator (China) and the 4 prong plug only has 3 wires in it while mine has all 4. I checked resistance in the source coil and it's in the 300's. I pulled one of the old pickup wires out of the old stator and wire it in the new one. Still no spark.
       
      Why do the wires differ, I checked the VIN again and it's "J" for the year and I got a 1988 stator. Please help!

      Hi everyone and thanks for reading. 
      My husband and me are getting ready to host the 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground. The first one (last year) went pretty well with about 20 quads attending and have to say, it was a smaller group, but they made up for their size with the large interest in partying and there was plenty of nudity as the Saturday night went on. 
      We have decided to host another one this summer, but we are looking for some fun (but safe) riding events. Our grounds are almost all flat and remember we are a nudist campground so many of us are bare as* naked so "slow ride" events would be the best. 
      Give us your thoughts and ideas and feel free to ask us anything you would like, and we will answer right here in the thread. 
      Thanks for your help and ride safe. 
      BTW, let us know what "anything goes" means for this thread section.

      oil for air filter?

      Hi everyone, first and foremost, I want to thank everyone for all the help I've received. I am so glad I found this community. I also wanna apologize if I'm spamming the forum, I come up with questions as I go, I guess lol. So when I got my Recon, the air box was missing the lid, held together by zip ties, and the filter was ripped and nasty. I have since ordered a new air box assembly. It comes with everything: the box,  lid, and filter ( the insert and the foam), and all the hardware necessary. This is the first time I've seen a metal filter inside a foam filter lol. However, my question is, I have read that you have to oil these filters? Every time I read it, it was always skimmed over, and I could not remember where I had read it. Is there a certain oil needed for this? Is the filter washable and reusable? Do I just stick the filter in oil, lol? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question. Thanks in advance, y'all!
