Hi everyone,

Just looking for some advice on a Bayou 300 that I am working on cleaning up and rebuilding. I bought the beast for 200 and am going to be into it for about 1200 all said and done. I decided after changing the oil three times in just around three hours of driving and having it come out completely black that something was up. That and the clutches were slipping. I believe now that the previous owners had not used the correct oil for the wet clutch system. Both were toasted and nearly metal on metal.

Anyway, when I started opening it up I realised there was a massive amount of sludge and gunk inside so I decided to crack open the crank case as well to clean it all up nice while I had the motor out.

This is my question now, I cannot for the life of me find a gasket any where that is for between the two crankcase halves. Is that normal. There was gasket material that was between them originally that would not be reused. Can I just use a gasket maker like ultra black or something of the sorts or am I best off to get gasket material and painstakingly cut out all the shapes and lines and get a gasket made that way?

Or does someone know where I could get a gasket?

Thanks in advance everyone.

It's not uncommon for case halves to not have a gasket.  Your Bayou is one of them.

I use Threebond 1184.  Just a light coat on one case half then assemble.  Make sure both surfaces are cleaned with brake clean before applying.

Each manufacturer has their own case sealer also.  Yamabond 4 is a good one.  Suzuki, Honda & Kaw have theirs too.

I'd stay away from silicone sealer although it can be used in a pinch. The mistake guys make is using too much.  It gets into oil passages and blocks them.

Hi everyone and thanks for reading.
My husband and me are getting ready to host the 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground. The first one (last year) went pretty well with about 20 quads attending and have to say, it was a smaller group, but they made up for their size with the large interest in partying and there was plenty of nudity as the Saturday night went on.
We have decided to host another one this summer, but we are looking for some fun (but safe) riding events. Our grounds are almost all flat and remember we are a nudist campground so many of us are bare as* naked so "slow ride" events would be the best.
Give us your thoughts and ideas and feel free to ask us anything you would like, and we will answer right here in the thread.
Thanks for your help and ride safe.
BTW, let us know what "anything goes" means for this thread section.

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

Hi guys, I was given a 2000 Honda Recon fourtrax 250 (I think that's the full name lol). The previous owner had it sitting for a while before I got it. It sat for another few years in my ownership. I got it up and going on its first test drive today!! I was wondering where everyone buys their parts from?  Coming from the car community, we have sites like RockAuto and many more. Anything like that for quads? Also would like to be pointed in a direction, if possible, for plastics. I am missing a few and would like to have it complete. I appreciate any input!

I got a couple yamaha moto 4 225cc quads. The guy gave me several old starters with them. I see kits are available to rebuild them but does anyone have tips or tricks for doing it? I haven't rebuild a starter before so im not sure what to look out for.
