Bought a 1988 LT4wd that sounds like it needs a starter clutch bad (loud grinding type sound with electric starter), I will know more once I pull the cover. Also has no cover or guts for the master cylinder. My thoughts are to replace the brake line and master cylinder assy altogether. What are your thoughts? Any one done the starter clutch with "oh man you def gonna wanna do..." or " hey don't forget about..." etc. And do I have to use a special tool to pull the clutch out? Thanks!

You can test the starter clutch because it's supposed to freewheel one way and engage the other way.  I don't have a manual for your bike but most bikes the starter clutch involves the timing chain so if you don't know how to properly time the bike then you might want to phone a friend or youtube it. Here's a picture of the clutch https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/suzuki/atv/1988/quadrunner-lt-4wd/starter-clutch I would DEFINITELY get a manual before messing with this. Hit me back if you need more help.

After i did my rebuild it seems to not want to shift well. I think the cable is alright, and when it does shift its nice and solid. I have to basically use my hand to shift and i have to pull or push it very far, like max travel, to get it to shift. I also tried adjusting the clutch set screw. Any ideas where to go next, or maybe i should just grab a new cable to try.

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

Just picked up an 84 LT185 ATV, I understand there was an accessory add  on that gave it electric start, anyone have any info about that kit?

      Hi all,
Looking for some help on a starter/bendix issue. Can Am outlander 450 2017. While cranking to start, the starter spins and engages into the ring gear. After a few seconds the bendix retracts while still spinning and there is no damaged teeth on the drive pulley.

I've been hunting for a rebuild kit or aftermarket replacement without success. Any tips? The OEM replacement is too rich for my blood.
