I have a 1998 300 fourtrax that I have owned since it was new. It has done its fair share of sitting over the past few years but I have started and used it atleast 4 to 5 times a year and sometimes pretty hard around deer season. For the last few years it has had a skip or hiccup when running at half to full throttle (steady throttle). This thing has always started perfect, idles perfect and takes gas great, runs great except for this hiccup when holding it at a steady throttle under load. Sitting you can hold the throttle all you want and it purrs like a kitten. I have done the complete tune up, cleaned the gas tank, replaced a broken choke cable where it screws into the carb, took the carb off and it looks extremely clean, blew out the vent lines. I have also ran it with the gas cap off and I believe it runs better (hiccups less often) with it off then with it on. I have ran seafoam through it. Done about all I know to do except take the jets out of the card and clean them. Like I said the carb looks clean with no varnish buildup of any kind in it.

Any ideas would be helpful.

      I have a 1990 Honda fourtrax 300 2x4
I rode the other day for 30-45 min. Switched it off and now it is completely dead..
battery is fully charged, fuses are good . WILL NOT TURN OVER ,
headlights won't turn on , No neutral, reverse or oil temp lights . Electrically it is completely dead !!! I replaced the key switch and CDI box , STILL NOTHING.
I bypassed the neutral safety switch and grounded it to the battery and still nothing !! I used a jumper wire on the starter Solenoid , the motor will turn over but not start . I even bypassed both fuses and straight wired it to see if I could get a neutral light or headlights still nothing . What could it be ?

The family has two quads and have been asking where to ride around here- we are about 70 miles north of spokane and looking for places that are nice to go visit for beginners.
We have a 2003 Polaris sportsman, and a 2004 Artic Cat 2-up (I forget the size)

As it should be easy to see I am not a four wheeler mechanic so I apologize for asking for help, I replaced my OEM carburetor with a aftermarket carburetor and with y’all’s help adjusted the air/ fuel and it ran great until this evening and I noticed a smell of fuel I inspected carburetor area and found a steady flow at the vent line on the bottom of the carburetor so my question is is the float the only thing that will cause this problem? Before I installed the carburetor I checked the jets for tightness and they all seemed fine?

Have a 1998 AC 300 2x4, Just installed a new carburetor. Engine starts easy but the choke RPMs are very hi and take along time (5-10 mins when cold out). After engine has warmed up choke releases and it idles and runs fine., It does no have an electric choke. The choke lever is never used and it seems like an auto choke? Long story short, how can I lower the choke rpm levels?

Also, carb came with a spare145 jet, not 100% sure what is installed. Could this impact choke RPMs?

Any help and information greatly appreciated.
