  1. Next is to suspect the plug wire, start system wiring, then the coil in that order. Not knowing the specifics of the machine, if its a LT160, these should have the simple wire that just pushes on to a spike in the plug end and coil. Check that is secure and making good contact.

    Does the engine crank over? Before checking wiring and the coil best to have a manual with a WDM. Check in the sticky above to see if there is a manual for your machine. RTFM.

  2. My opinion: It might. However, it would be treating the symptom not curing the problem. Plus you might have to play around with jet combinations to get it to run well and still might not get it to where you want.

    I think you should try to find a used muffler. Ebay is a good source. Lots of people parting out 4 wheelers. What year is it?

  3. I talked to the local repair shop guy. He`s mostly against it too. Says if done, you have to put more air in them to keep the tube tight in the wheel so it doesnt slip. I want to do this on the fronts of my 86 Suzuki LTF230 but the suspension on this is poor and lower tire pressure helps. Shop guy also mention fix a flat but its nasty when changing tires. I think if I ever change tires on this, I`d go get new wheels too. Leaning towards the goo method.

  4. I started with a 90s 280 Suzuki King Quad and prefer them for my kids. They started on smaller machines. But now can follow everywhere I go.

    They are rather complicated to operate with the levers and shifting. It gives them an understanding how things work and what drive combinations they need to be in for a given situation. The drum brakes always suck which makes them pay attention. They are durable utility machine with ample luggage racks and go most anywhere.

    (pausing on a fond memory of winching my buddys brand new Polaris 750 out of the same hole I just went trough on my 93 :laugh: )

    I bought all but one broken for cheap. 2 required full engine and crank case tear downs. I am a mechanic. They were good winter projects and taught the kids to wrench. Parts are relatively cheap and easy to get. However, for the non-mechanical, I would tell new people to stay away. They are difficult to fix and the older ones break a lot. I think that is why you see so many sitting around. Once they broke, they were left to rot.

  5. I have some old wheels that just wont hold air for long. Too many rock bashes with mini bends in the bead. Ive tried to form them round again but its a useless endeavor. Thinking about putting tubes in them.

    A friend of mine cautioned me saying its possible for the tube to slip inside the tire and break the valve stem. Then, poof, no air and no way to refill.

    Has this happened to anyone? Opinions on using tubes please.
