  2. I bought a 96 trail boss 250 new for my kids to ride and now they are grown up and the quad just sat around with just me riding it once in a while. A friend on mine gave me a frame (i'm not sure what its from) and i decided to bust out the sawzall and see what I could create. I cut the frame down leaving the engine and drive train intact and inserted this into the rear of my new frame. The width of the rear axle wasn't wide enough so i found some 2" spacers and that made the rear wheels 4" further apart. I cut the front suspension apart and mounted them on the front of my frame ( wider than they were on the quad) I had to fab up a handle bar set up and after a couple of try's found one that worked. I re-used all the brakes except for the manual rear brake, re mounted the gas tank rear of drivers seat. I dont know how to post pics on this site but showing some pictures would help a lot. so until I figure out how to post pics you'll just have to use your imagination . . lol So now after I have frankenbuggy finished driving it around is a blast and then I came across a 96 Polaris 400cc engine and trans (not sure what its out of but I have the serial number if anyone knows how to find out) The engine overheated and needs piston and rings so i'm gonna get a new piston and rings and replace the 250 with this new 400 . . . so now the Frankenbuggy should s#!t and get. can anyone tell me if I can reuse the transmission from the 250 with the 400 motor? that sure would help in the engine swap if I could since both are a 96. And some help on posting pics so you guys can see Frankenbuggy You can see the back of the Frankenbuggy in my avatar
