  1. Hi all! I am at my friend's ranch helping repair stuff. I have been working on a 1991 King Quad that has been causing me some headaches. When I found it in the barn it had 7 quarts of oil in it. I was told by the owner that it did that on it's own - and it would fill the crankcase with gasoline. I have replaced the petcock, rebuilt the fuel pump, replaced the fuel lines, new air filter, spark plug, battery, muffler (was rusted), replaced the oil with the 3.5 qt JASO MA oil, and rode it around for a bit. It ran good but it wouldn't accelerate as hard as I was hoping for. I finally got the carb rebuild kit, and got that done. The thing RIPPED up and down the driveway. I was excited so I put the back fender/body piece on, then attempted to ride it some more. Next it would idle for a short while then die, then crank and not start - I did this about 5 times, would get it started, then same issue. I checked spark, fuel flow both fine. Then the next day I started it again hoping the issue was resolved- rode it maybe 40 yards and then it started smoking and spewing oil from somewhere over the gas tank - maybe one of those relief hoses? At this point I've wanted to take some dynamite to it, but it's not mine and I'm trying to help. The quad shows no oil in the sight glass and I'm guessing won't start. I took two weeks away for thanksgiving, and now I'm back and needing some help. I've looked into rebuild kits - maybe the rings are bad or the valve seals - and it doesn't want to start now because I ran it with low oil? Other issues - When it was running it had 12.5V - What should I test and how? Rectifier..? Thanks, I'm really hoping for some help! :D
