Well if it's started since you fitted a new air inlet pipe, it sounds like the aircleaner or inlet piping has a blockage.

No, its always started and idles fine....

When you slowly press on the gas now it bogs down and wants to stall

  2. I had this running so nice like 3 weeks ago and havent touched it since. Today i took the old  outlet tube (from the carb to the air box) off, put the new one on, and now its lagging again when you press the gas slowly. Was not doing that with the old tube that was barely on.

I assume its getting the proper air now. Carb was fully rebuilt with oem parts 1 year ago by kawasaki (guy did this before i bought it).. ive taken most of it apart and it looks brand new.

  3. Wished you lived closer mech, i had the quad running mint, and then replaced the old crappy outlet tube, now it bogs down again when you slowly push on the gas. The carb is one pain in the as* to adjust... im almost positive the float level and air fuel isnt adjusted properly. I had it running like new 3 weeks ago... grrrrr

Forgot to say as well, the old air outlet tube was barely hanging on, and more then a half in shorter then the oem one. So i replaced it, now she runs like dogsh!t again

  4. Thanks alot for your help...

i havent had a chance to look at my brakes again, but i am just going to replace the shoes, springs and wheel cylinders anyways. Its pretty cheap, and they werent in the greatest shape. Id rather have good new brakes then none at all. I also need to look at the adjusters because it seems to be a common problem that they rust up and dont work well.

As for the diff we are gonna start taking things apart soon to see what is going on. I dont have a good place at my house to work on it, so its at my parents warehouse. Looks like ebay even has a couple refurbished diffs for like $230 or so.  Not having the quad at my house is a PITA

The quad sat for 3 or 4 years so im sure theres a few things that need to be addressed.

Asides from fluid changes and new spark plug what do you reccomend checking out for maintenance?

  5. I just got a 91 king quad. (I am very new to atvs) and know nothing about fixing them. While i was driving the other day at around 30km/hr the front left wheel locked up and was skidding. I tried putting it in neutral, that did nothing. The tire is still locked up. Tried putting it in 4x4 still locked up. Locked up in reverse as well. Only the front left is locked.

Brakes? Berrings? I changed the differential fluid maybe a few days before.

  6. Looks like a good project

Mine sat outside for 2 years. Right before it got parked, the previous owner put new platics, new under coating, new lights, new decals,  and a new carb.

Ive changed the oil, oil filter, completely cleaned out the gas tank and petcock and replaced the gas with 94 octane, new spark plug and checked for air leaks.

He says the quad needs the carb air fuel screw adjusted to the 2 1/2 turns. I am a beginner to all of these things, so im having some issues figuring it all out.

It bogs down when you press the throttle at low rpms. Spark plug gets sooty black. (Carbon build up?  - running rich)

I wish i knew what i was doing lol
