Yea I’m right there with ya bud

Very dumb rule of u ask me but I guess nobody is asking lol

I dont think incouraging ppl to be social on a platform we all have something in common and I'm sure you like anybody else doesn't like being used and forgotten like a sauce packet. Plus if you look around and join a few comment by time you've made 10 you'll probably make more, this place is pretty helpful and everyone is pretty nice, the adds are kinda brutal tho ngl and most these kinda sites are free so I'm certainly not spending more than a physical service manual costs for a sit I personally may not get much use out of, but the 10 post rule is actually pretty ok

Oh ok. I contributed a few bucks a while back and so don't see the ads. When I used to see the ads though I'd never seen anything like what you are describing.

It's still one of the better sites and you should feel free to ask any questions if you have any when you're putting that engine back together.. Best not to burn our bridges..

    You on Mobil or pc?

Sorry to hear that! I have noticed more ads lately, but for me, its worth it in the long run for all the valuable information you receive, there are things you get from here that are not in the service manual.

I wonder if it's different for mobile vs pc there's an ad at the top and bottom, plus another on the top you scroll by along with a few more as you scroll down, that's fine I'm not an idiot, sites cost money to run, nuthing worth it is free but there are limits, the whole screen add that I have to click out of when I first get here, the whole screen add I have to click out of when I hit notifications at the bottom, and then the one I already mention that forces you to watch the add to get access back to the site, refreshing page and going back won't get rid of it.

I enjoy this kind of site normally like hondaatvforums.net or reddit even, neither of which have an insane amount of ads.

It's super crazy but this is literally the only site in all of the whole internet that had this manual, thank you to the onyx fellow that uploaded it, I just need a torque values and Google didn't have the answer for the first time ever, so thank you guys but the ad load is to much, again ads are fine ludacris amounts are not.

I thought the banner along the bottom ads, could be dismissed with a click of the mouse ? The other side ads aren't intrusive. And if we don't want to contribute to keep a site open, then we need the ads.

It's a pity that some people think they should get everything for free, and handed to them on a plate. That just makes someone else do the work..

I think the mods here do a great job and that the "rules" are fair and easy to comply with. This site is one of the best..  Bad luck for those that think a few ads are all just too hard and more than they can deal with..

A few adds were fine coincidering the content although constantly clicking them away is a pain with every page, I don't expect something for free, I said this in the first comment, no it's the screen blocking must watch ad that was just too much.

Site wants to incourage participation then maybe don't put up unremarkable add walls to chase us away.

I only came here for 1 manual, got my 10 post needed and got my manual but enjoyed the few conversations I had goin so I stuck around and bookmarked site cause I thought it was worth what it is, but the unremarkable add wall is a hard NOPE for me.

I have downloaded several from manualslib.com.

Man this quadcrazy sit is nice and I was dealing g with the regular pop-ups for free access and then the adds all over on top of that but fukk the mandatory unremarkable  "watch short add for site wide access" no way in hell I'm gunna deal with all of that AND be active in the community, fkn joke man, I'm out.

Haha, I'm still around. I posted on a few forums and thought I posted updates on all. It was the smaller gear tower on the left side. I had a parts engine that I was able to swap it out from. I think reverse was out in it originally too, but all is going well at this point. Waiting on parts right now. Needed a new stator, but I just went ahead and got a complete wiring kit along with it. Going with all I think it's somewhere like 97- 2001 electronics. I think the guy before me wired the starter to the 12v source going to the headlights or something. At least that's what I saw. The wiring was a damn mess. Planning another post when I get it completely together. Case is already together, and clutch side is already together.

Nightmare fuel lol, glad you got it straitened out, the "in over my head" feeling is a terrible one, really wish I had gone to school for this stuff but I never knew it's what I was going to be into at the time, oh well, learning the hard way still works I guess haha.

I personally just destroyed a freshly bored jug and new piston/ring kit. Took like 2 minutes, another 200 for the service goes poof. I've taken apart and reassembled enough of these to almost be coincidered seasoned so this was a bit of a blow to me.

    I hope your machine rips!

I will indeed. When I get to having a winch again. If dragging something I'd make sure to bight the log with a chain, won't hurt that sliding over rocks. I usually wrap a choker if it won't see rocks or gravel. The biggest thing to watch in my opinion is keeping the wrap tight. If it loose it pulls between the lays and can be a bi*** to get back out.

Wow those are some serious tires.

They grab hard, gave me a bit more clearance and the rims gave me a bit wider stance, really dialed this machine up to 11, we got a swamp path outback that's so wallered out we haven't been able to cross it in 2 years, she marched right thru it like a boss, cant run in the higher gears any more but I never really did in the first place. The seudo lockers I got really come in clutch for the deep stuff too. She also needs a rebuild atm tho :/ my lift has a waiting list lol

If the plastics are really bad sanding with primer and paint is the only option as Catman said. I paint plastics as a last resort. If its heavily oxidized i scrape all the oxidation off lightly with a razor blade at 90 degree angle to the plastic, I say lightly you don't want to gouge the plastic. Then I go over it with 000 steel wool, next wet sand with 220 until you get a uniform smooth finish. Continue wet sanding with finer grit as you go 400, 600, 800, 1000 , 1500 I usually don't go higher than that. Then use a good plastic polish. Its not as good as new but its a good 5 footer.

5 footer lol, is that like 20/20 vision? Looks good from 20' away as long you don't stare at it for more than 20 seconds

Iv heard that story more than once, happened to me more than once, this is what I do, transmissions can be tricky, double check to make sure everything is where it needs to be, don't forget the shims they are easy to loose they stick to other parts.Gear clusters have to be installed together with the shift fork, come down slowly with the other case half, wiggling it as you go down, should fall in place, make sure its not binding on the crank bearing, if its binding there you might need to put a little heat on bearing. Why did you have to split the case to replace top end?

I've never even hear of the anything going bad in an older crankcase, im terrified to even open one up, sounds like im right to feel that way lol, cept HF 212 predator engine I opened to remove limiter but that thing is relatively simple compares to an atv im sure. Swapping jugs is my upper limits. Sad this guy never replied and followed thru, definetly in over their head I guess if they stripped it that far just to swap jug.

Well you gotta make 7 more comments lol, try looking for an interesting post and striking up a conversation like I did, got all 10 last night, if you click on the dots at the top right and click account/profile it should show some basic stats on your account including post(comments count as posts) what's your year make and model?

Bayou was my first also.  I did a lot with it.  A lot more than I should have lol

Yours looks a heck of a lot better than mine did.  My was green.  I should probably post some pics.  Been meaning to just been busy lately.

Hey how does that synthetic winch line work in logging?  Does it get snagged on branches or anything?  We were just talking about which winch line to use a couple months ago on here.

How do you normally use a winch for logging? I would have a seperate strap if possible so as not to Frey the line regardless of material but I'd say the synthetic is a huge leap over cable, I have yet to jab myself on frayed bits lol, also doesn't rust and it really is just as strong, ive pulled some massive trees out of creeks with it. Wrong post but I mention these larger rims and tires in another post and couldn't find the pic at the time, 26 kenda executions on 12" steep itp deltas, fkn nightmare mounting them

A buddy was riding my bayou and couldn't make a turn so he jumped off and grabbed a tree and sent the atv flying off the side of a mountain.  When they didn't show up at the nest split I went back looking for them and seen him standing there with a bloody nose and no atv.  I'm like "what happened to the quad?"  He pointed down the mountain and was pissed I cared more about the quad than him lol.  Well I could see he was ok but I couldn't see the quad at all!

Some strong chain and a bottle jack will straighten a frame.

I think we all have cracked plastics.  Join the club lol

Mine smoked so much it burned 4 qts of oil then screwed my cam and head a few years back.  I honed the cylinder and put in new rings.  Good as new now.  But make sure you put WIDE ring gaps.  What happens is the engine gets too hot and the rings butt together, so now I make the gaps huge.  I also installed a 6 inch fan from ebay.

All the weight is in the back so I guess they decided to put the battery in front.  I upgraded to a lawnmower battery and wedged in 2 bigass chunks of lead behind the front bumper.  Think they weigh about 50 lbs.  Helps to balance it out a bit.

Friend of mine had a raptor with holeshots on the back.  The traction was so crazy I couldn't keep the front wheels on the ground, so I stuffed those lead weights in the front bumper so I could steer the thing lol

Yup, but hate getting that on my hands.  Seems like once it gets on my hands it gets on all my clothes and everything.

Works good for electrical connections too since it has aluminum in it.

I've heard copper works too.  I have some in a spray but only ever used it for copper head gaskets.

Yeah silver gets on everything no matter how careful or clean I am, real love hate relationship with that stuff.

So wait, are you saying you cut your rings? Do they not come the right size? The ones I get come with the piston

Kibble I'll have to get another pic of the plastics for you. They spent years rolling down a 1000' vertical drop mountainside. The youngsters working them thought it was funny.  Yup Randy, one for work and one for play. I might even get three out of them. That'll leave one for parts. I got a nice surprise today. Just knew the enricher gizmo was going to fight. One good tug and it popped right out. Ready for the ultrasonic machine now, that thing is stanky.

Nastyyyy, parts washer is probably next on my tool list, for now it's brake cleaner spray and a variety of brushes, stuff cleans everything, smells to high hell tho.  It's kinda of awesome that they can be put thru that kind of hell and still come out running, battery location is almost as bad as yamahas or polaris is my only complaint with these machines. Unrelated but my favorite bit of advice is anti-seize everything, I love myself a little bit more everytime I have to remove a bolt I've removed once befor lol.

I'm jealous he has 4 too.  I'd like to have one setup for the trails and one setup for work.

I like the idea of having spares so I can get others to join me and my brothers on the trail, I find one broken and cheap enough I'll buy it and have it trail worthy(enuff) in 2 weeks, plus shipping time, market has been wack for some time now tho :/

  15. It took me and my brother giving it all the beans to get some 12" tries on rims recently and we got the right bars to do it, soaped the tire up good, my 3rd brother had to loan us some weight to finish each one off and I managed to damage my rims a bit on the edges(which the stuff I ride in was bound to do anyways) and it hurt to watch myself do this to brand new rims so do yourself a solid and pay someone to mount. I'm sure others may disagree and say it's easy but I'm not buyin it. I have 26" kenda executioners on 12" ITP Delta steel black rims, the hookup is insane. Rigged up some puppy lockers and I haven't managed to get it stuck yet try as I might

  16. I'm jealous you got 4, they are unstoppable with good tires and the locking diff really comes in clutch sometimes. Those fairings don't look that bad, im pretty shure mine went off a cliff and down a raven, everything is bent, whole main frame has a slight twist, all suspension is shot, almost as much zipties and gorilla tape as there is plastic and it smokes like that's its MO, cylinders off getting honed at the moment. 4 will certainly keep you busy but by the last one you're gunna run thru that thing like clockwork lol

    Youch..

Most bikes you hardly need a ring compressor, and on a lot of them a ring compressor won't work, or at least, a lot of ring compressor designs won't work on them, because the sleeves have a big gentle taper at the bottom..

It was probably caused by letting the barrel lean over on the piston as it was going on, pressing the ring in on one side and allowing it to pop out on the other side. You need to get two fingers in under the piston to hold it flat as you slide the barrel down over it..

Interesting, I do recall the piston going in at a slight angle, I think I'll try to make a forked wedge to place between the piston and lower engine to keep it strait cause both the sleeve and the piston moved around to much when I was try ING to reinstall, guess I got spoiled with my Hondas lol

  18. Didn't have it fully tucked in and tapped it in with some muscle, as I did it I thought it was way to tight but I couldn't see that rings sticking out so I thought I was good.

    13 minutes ago, Mech said:

Well the oil ring didn't get that damaged being fitted...  So what happened to it ?

  19. I think so but it's temporary, we bought our first 5 last year lol, all were in bad shape and not running, got wm goin and sold a couple and keeps the ones we liked and although I'm always lookin for a few more 50cc kazuma engine quads for irl Mario cart we are done quad hunting I think, back to buying bikes tho so maybe a sickness after all lol

I dont suppose you could do the same for me please, I also have a 96 kingquad but can't find manuals anywhere for those years, even your list with links up top is missing the 90s 300 kingquads manuals, thank you if you can, thank you regardless for even makeing a list of free manuals in the first place.
