I'll always pick makuni or a rebuild kit for one

When I got my quad there was no carb on it. Perhaps I got lucky. The only thing I had to do was adjust the AF mixture.. The search for a stock carb is ongoing. So far no luck. Don't know why but I don't seem to be able to find one. You would think a 2000 Yamaha bear tracker carb would be pretty common.

I finally found the airbox inlet hose at a price i was willing to pay, i have found plenty of used ones which i dont mind buying even with the grease and mud still on it, but not for  60 or 70 dollars. I found this new one, looks like it has been sitting on a shelffor 20 years but it was new in original packaging, so i got it for 40. You can see the whitish residue from sitting in packaging for a while.

I dont use Ebay a lot, only for unobtanium parts, and when i do i have a system i follow. I know what im willing to pay before i look and if i dont find anything in that price range, i keep looking, if i find something i think is really good i will up my anny a little, i dont want to cheat anyone want to pay what its worth. This part he had listed for 75.00 i put it in my cart willing to pay the 75 , and forgot about it , a few weeks later he sent me an offer for 40. It was his offer so i accepted it.

I made one out of radiator hose and has been working fine for a while, hose was smaller and i was a little concerned it might not be getting proper air flow at high revs. The hose was a little smaller.

The new one fit better and now has a place to hold the vent lines that were just flopping around.

Not a very exciting read but thought i would just throw this in  since things are a little slow right now.

I thought this whole thread was a great read and very helpful to anyone with a big bear. Many thanks.

  3. I have been an avid motorcyclist since I was big enough to get on one. Street bikes were my forte. My doctor  told me that due to an illness I had last winter that my bike riding days are done. This pretty much crushed me. A friend that was doing some work around the house( He was being paid ) heard me telling my wife how bad I was feeling. My wife said how about a trike ,would that be alright.  said yeah anything I don't have to balance. My friend at this point stated he had an aty that was sitting for years and he would trade me for  one of my guitars( I have 14 both electric and acoustic ) He stated it need work but I love a challenge so at the age of 78 I have my first quad.. After a carb and battery it started right up. I live on a dirt road so Told the wife to hope on and away we went. After just a short ride I am hooked.

  4. Need some help. New to atv's. I am looking for a part that I have no idea what it is called. It is the rubber tube, hose, snorkel ? that goes from the carb to the airbox. Can anyone help me out here ? Thanks in advance.

  5. Thanks. Yep it looks like a wonderful site. No more motorcycles for me. Over the last winter I contracted a thing called Gillian Barre Syndrome that left me paralyzed. I am getting better every day but my balance is still off. Can't even walk right yet, but at least I am walking which is more than I could do 5 months ago so I'm a happy camper.

  6. Hello from southeast Georgia. Was gifted a 2000 Yamaha bear tracker with out a carb or battery and looking like it had seen better days. Was told it had sat for about three years. Explained a lot. Put a carb on and a battery in and it started right up. Surprised the heck out of me :) Anyhow as stated in my opening I am  78 years old with a very long motorcycle backgground but brand new to atv's. Anyone else out here from Georgia? Would like to meet up with some folks for a ride or two. Looks like a great site. Thanks for having me.
