  1. Ok so I took off the top end and obviously I’m getting rings but the cylinder walls had a bit of light wear with up and down scratching(I don’t remember what the real term for it is) so I’ll hone the cylinder and put new rings in also the piston was a tiny bit loose in the cylinder but when I looked at the piston the thing looked brand new in terms of wear on the side, there was a bit of gunk on it but there wasn’t and wear on the sides so should I get a piston too? I’m gonna try rings on the original piston first but if that doesn’t solve it should I try a new piston?
  2. Alright I’ll take apart the top end and look and see what it needs but I can’t really try that because it cuts out if the rpm aren’t high enough but I’ll see if I can’t do that

Ok so I messed with it and found out that it chugs oil and when I tested compression without oil at wide open it was back at 150 and then put oil in the cylinder and it went up to about 185 And now for some reason it doesn’t want to idle now that I filled it up with oil, and im getting blow by. So I’m thinking way too much oil is getting in the cylinder so that’s why it making it run bad?
  4. Just realized that when I tested compression the second time I didn’t have the throttle open so I’ll test it again and get back to you

  6. Also forgot to mention that put a bunch of seafoam in it and it was at 150 for compression and after the seafoam cleaned out all the carbon it’s down to 90 pounds of compression idk if that matters though

Ok I just tried again this time with a charged battery and I think it could be a shortage of fuel because after it bogged and sputtered for a while it died and then I cracked it and it started back up and idles perfectly, is the tap the fuel petcock? Oh the petcock filter could be clogged I’ll check that as well

Alright so i put I different exhaust on and it works better than the other one, but it idles perfectly and will idle all day but then I take it down the road and after about 2 minutes it pooped on me, so I pushed it back about a 1/4 mile and then I jumped it and it started right back up. Do you know what is happening now?
  9. Ok so I finally got time to take the exhaust off and when I did the thing ripped and it went fast now so thank you I have yet to drive it more with a proper exhaust to see how it runs with everything put together so I’ll let you know Oh yea and it quit smoking
  10. Ok I’ll switch it to a different one because the one on there I got from an old parts quad but I’ll switch it back to the one that was there before and see what happens
  11. Oh and where would I find a new vent hose? Also your saying get piston rings and check valve clearances? And new valve seals?
  12. Because when I bought it the crankcase vent hose was gone and I don’t know how much dirt if any got into the crankcase
  13. Are you thinking just top end? Or should I look into the bottom end and check that as well while im at it

So basically what is happening now that I’ve driven it around a little bit and gotten to test some things Is I’ll drive in first, it doesn’t go any faster then I kick it to second and it goes just a tiny bit faster and then I kick it to third and it stays the same but then fourth it slows down and then in fifth it hardly moves at all and that whole time it sounds like crap
  15. Ok the Cdi is Mitsubishi so it should be oem

No I do not have a service manual if you could find one that would be fantastic and I will try and look into that stuff tomorrow if I have time But also if I hit full throttle it revs up it’s only at half throttle area where is sounds like it bogs and has a rough time so I don’t think it’s the brake thing but it’s worth a shot anyway I guess
  18. Also I just found out it’s either a 1990 or 91 the thing doesn’t have a pull start so that’s how I determined that but yea I’m sure if that makes a difference

  20. Ok so what I did is I took my good carb off of my red moto 4 and put it in this one and it’s still did it Oh and I put the carb from the issue quad and put it in my good quad and the good quad ran perfectly fine, also the needle adjustments are the same for my good one and the bad one

  22. Ok so you guys think it’s misfiring? Also I just did a compression test on it and it has 150 pound of compression, also when I hit full throttle it has power again so it’s like it’s only doing that at half throttle but I guess when I hit full throttle it still doesn’t run the best
  23. Ok quick question, would that affect only in gear? Because it revs all the way up just fine in neutral, it only does that when it’s in gear
  24. Also for the oil I just changed it, the guy had way to much in it so I drained it and put 10w-40 wet clutch compatible in it
