  1. ya I can't see why highway driving or rain would be bad for a backwards facing quad, but I would agree that its for keeping it from hitting the window for the smaller trucks. my yfz doesnt have a bumper on it right now, so it fits in the back with the tailgate up (5.5ft bed) but the windows not really an issue, the silverado beds are high enough that unless you have a lifted quad theres no way it's hitting the window.

  2. I have a '07 Yamaha Grizzly 450, one of these days i'll upgrade to the 700 with EFI and power steering, but for now, it gets me around, and it does a hell of a job of it, it's actually kinda nice to be lower to the ground than the 700, your center of gravity isn't so high and you don't feel as tippy on side hills and what not. don't think I'll ever own anything utility besides a Grizzly though, not that they aren't pretty equal, i'm just partial :)

  3. I have a '07 YFZ 450 and love it to death, it's snappy as hell, great suspension, and fits me like a glove, I also have a '04 predator 500, and I'm not a huge fan, it's big and bulky, feels like your riding a utility quad with the looks of a sport quad, so I agree with these guys, it's what fits you best, test drive/sit before you buy for sure. My brother has a '08 Raptor 700 SE and that thing is a beast too, I love the EFI on it, just cause you can go from my house (sea level) to his neck of the woods (5000 feet) and ride the same, my YFZ is carbed and you definately can't set it and forget it lol.

  4. So I'm stumped. I had the carb in the carb cleaner can for 24 hours soaking, pulled it out tonight after work, pulled the idle and primary jet off and sprayed the crap out of them and their respective holes, and just for good measure, sprayed the crap out of every orifice I could find on it, put it all back together, and nothing changed, still idles great on choke, and dies off of choke... I'm at a loss for words :(

  5. ok ok, it's not a quad, it's a kids bike, but it's still an issue I need solved lol. so with the choke on, it fires up first kick, but as soon as you take off the choke it dies. I removed the carb and sprayed it down with wd40, no help, maybe I need to actually soak it in a carb cleaner bucket for a night...I'm assuming it's a carb problem, but dunno? this carb is a little differant than the big quads i'm used to, it has some...apparatus lol...next to it with a very small air, fuel, or vacuum hose, not sure which, connecting it to the carb? anybody know what i'm dealing with here? I've never dealt with these little guys so don't know a lick about em... thanks in advance

  6. Im going to sand lake, oregon the weekend of the 29th, id like to go to winchester bay more often but its about 6 hours for me too, and sand lake is only 3. going to tahuya for memorial day too, hope i can get a camper spot lol. Im getting a new start button for the quad here soon, hopefully before the trip, and you guys are right, i do need to get it in and get the valves checked, it hasnt been since ive owned it. about a year now, and who knows before that...

  7. Hey I also have a friend that can get you a PDF Service Manual for free and it has electrical trouble shooting in it if you are good at that. It will give you the resistance, voltage and so on for each of the two parts you have narrowed it down to. So with the manual you should be able to determine which one it is. So let me know if you want the service manual and I will ask him to get it for you. And in the mean time here is a page with that has 04 and 06 manuals which also might have the same thing.

That would be amazing Ballistik, if you can email it to me @ [email protected] I'd be in debt to ya man.

  8. So my 2007 Yamaha YFZ450 wont start...I narrowed it down to either the starter relay or the start button, battery is at full charge, and pushing the electric start button wont do anything, so i crossed the start relay with a screwdriver and she fired right up, shut it off, then tried the push button again, and it started, stopped it, tried the push button again, nothing, not even a click, now basically if you hit the start button 50 times it will crank finally but never the first time you hit it, so i'm thinking its either the starter relay going bad, or a faulty push button, any of you guys know a good way to test to isolate it down to just one without throwing money at it?
