  13. The Land Report: As the Gulf Coast Quad Racing Association (GCQRA) continues its 2007 Pin It to Win It Series, the number of racers continues to grow and the faces on the podium continue to change. With Round 1 and 2 Expert champion, Chris Brian sidelined with a serious neck injury, the first place money was up for grabs and the top riders in the area duked it out with some spectacular motos capped off with wins in round 3 by Craig Porter and Round 4 by Steven McBride. McBride fought off Media All-Star Austin Wilson at Beaumont MX in one of the better head to head matches of the day. These two exchanged stickers and phone numbers for the entire 6 laps of the expert main. Travis Beyner beat out rounds 1 and 2 A class winner Ryan Callahan for the top shelf on the podium for round 4 while Marco Castillo took round 3. In the Sport Quad class, WPSA supermini racer Cody Land took his first win of the season in dramatic fashion over teammate and best friend, Tyler Webster. The Sport quad class is one of, if not the, most competitive class in the GCQRA with terrific battles among racers Garrett Baker, Cody Bales, Brent Sellers as well as Land and Webster. In the B class, Skyler Jancowiak continued his dominance of the class with the win in round 3 while WPSA racer Josh Bateman took the W in round 4. Little Ty Cruse has established himself as the one to beat in the Stock Mini class with dominate wins in all 4 rounds. With the growth of our women’s class, the gals are putting up terrific matches among front runners Debra Mercado and her daughter Curren as well as Angela Bryant and Kayla Melder. The GCQRA is honored to have our season underwritten and sponsored by Honda of Houston and we welcome all those in the area to come out and experience not just the race but, the entire weekend’s festivities! Come experience the best show on dirt! _________________

  17. Gulf Coast Quad Racing Association - GCQRA The second season of racing for the GCQRA is in full swing and rounds 1 and 2 are now in the record books. Round 1 saw the kick off of the “Pin it to Win it Series” come to life with a staggering 154 entries! Series sponsor Honda of Houston, 3-Palm Extreme Sports Park and the GCQRA brought out the big guns for the inaugural race of the season and quad racers from all over came for what proved to be one of the biggest quad events ever held in South Texas. National pro-am racer Chris Brian set the tone in the Expert and Pro-Am classes by taking the win in both classes. The battle for 2nd in the Pro-Am class was being fought by locals Brandon Eaves, Steven McBride and Anthony Jackson with Eaves taking 2nd, McBride 3rd and Jackson 4th. The Expert main saw Brian hauling in the first place cash with Daniel Donnan banking 2nd and Greg Livanec in 3rd. With over 53 riders entered from the super-mini down to the pee-wee classes, the little kids were the big story for the weekend as new riders duked it out with kids returning for their 2nd and 3rd seasons of competing. 2006 GCQRA Rider of the Year, J.D. Head picked up where he left off in 2006 by dominating the Super Stock class with a 1-1 finish and the overall. Ryan Callahan scored big in the A class with wins in rounds 1 and 2. Round 2 had a big treat as National pros passing through Texas on their way to California, stopped by for Saturday practice and put on a show that left a lasting impact on young and old alike. John Natalie, Chad Wienen, Harold Goodman and Greg Gee put their skills on display during private 20 minute practice sessions which saw the fences lined with gawking spectators dreaming of the day they too could tail-whip over 90 foot finish line table tops! Chris Brian once again dominated the Expert and Pro-Am ranks for round 2. While the real battle was for 2nd between Greg “Supersonic” Livanec and Daniel Donnan seeing Livanec take the 2nd overall. Please visit our website (www.gcqra.com) for the schedule and see our forum for the latest chat and goings on around the GCQRA.
