I bought this LTZ-50 for $50 and it didn't run.

I changed the oil, ultrasonic cleaned the carb, new air filter and now it starts.

The idle is high and I have not been able to change that with the throttle stop screw or the air/fuel mix screw.  It smokes a white smoke and it won't move.

I am not sure if the belt is stretched, clutches are bad, drive shaft and counter shaft are stripped.  I really have no clue.  Any help would be great

Here is a video of it at idle and here is a video of it going from idle to full throttle.

I am sure it is something simple but I am stumped!

It looks to me  like the  clutch  on the motor  is faulty.. As the motor  revs  up ,that  clutch  should  close  up   and grab the  belt..    I don't  see the  clutch  closing up  at  all.

That's the clutch with the rollers. I cleaned the rollers and the cage. I didn't see any flat spots. The plates did have some rust on them.

Could a stretched belt cause this?

I didn't see the clutch closing at  all.. It  should  close  when the motor  revs up  whether there  is a belt there  or not.  At  idle , the  motor  clutch is  open  and the  driven  is closed.. The  belt is slack   so the  motor  can run  without  driving the  machine .. When the  motor revs up, the  clutch  should  close  to  grip the belt .

Here  is  a  youtube video  of  one in action.

Do you think that I need to lube rollers?

Could lower compression or lack of engine power cause the clutch not to move out?

I'm going to check compression and run it up on a jack to see if it will engage without the wheels touching the ground today and let you know what i find.

When the  engine revs up the clutch  on it  closes up to  grip the  belt.. as the  engine  clutch  closes  more,  the  belt  rides higher in the  clutch. At the same time  the  driven  clutch opens up, allowing the  belt to ride  lower in the groove  to increase  speed at the  wheels.   I   don't  see  movement  in the   drive  clutch  at  all, but I  cannot  point you to the  problem  with it  since I don't  know  its internal  mechanism.

I picked up this ATV that had no spark. The previous owner said he was driving it and it died and would not start. He discovered it had no spark. He replaced the CDI and the coil with no luck. He got tired of it and I bought it. I replaced the stater and now it has strong spark. Now, it starts for a second or two then dies. It will not stay running. I have checked the timing and it is spot on. The valves are adjusted correctly. I see no warn issues with the cam. I put the original CDI and coil back on it. Same problem exists. Compression is at 65 psi (has decompression mechanism),
I took off the muffler in case the issue was clogged pipes. No change. I replaced the spark plug. No change. The carb was an aftermarket so I put a Niche carb on with no change. I bypassed the fuel pump and that did nothing to solve the problem.
I don't know if this is a carb issue or an ignition issue. I am looking around locally for an OEM carb to try out but not sure that will fix the problem.
Can anyone help me solve this problem. I am running out of ideas.
      Thank you for your time

I have replaced the cracked stator cover on my non-running 2006 LT-F400F that I purchased recently, checked all the shafts vs the service manual and pics and advice here.  I replaced missing gears, bushings and washers, made sure that truth marks were all aligned properly, that the shift cam springs felt like they returned properly, etc.  IAfter installing the new stator cover I checked the transfer lever for proper movement from L-H-R and then cranked it up.  Happily, it runs and changes gears well in L,  but it will not shift into H or R for anything.  I have opened it back up and am going back through it looking for the missing puzzle piece(s) but how can I best check that I have everything right this time before buttoning it back up?

(Question is at the end if you want to skip my blabbering) I got this unbelievably well taken care of Grizzly 350 in for a carb clean, it belongs to an elderly couple that bought it brand new in '07. Apparently whoever has been doing their oil changes for them never checked the air filter..
Obviously it got debris in the carb, it would still run but only idle with slight choke. I've taken it apart and cleaned it, have new o rings, gaskets, etc. As far as the mixture screw is concerned, I'm assuming I obviously need to remove the plug. I'm mainly a lawn equipment guy, I've worked on slide carbs in the past but never an unmolested one with the plug still intact. I hate to mess with it as the carb had very little debris but I'm sure the o ring needs to be replaced at minimum. Finally, the question: what's the best way of removing the plug? I DO NOT want to mess up this carb..

Does anyone know if they're interchangeable?  I have a 2002 TRX20TE and 2007 TRX250TE, so getting to a set of common engine parts would be ideal.
