Need help finding front guard for 2004 700 Praire

Recommended Posts

I am restoring a 2004 Prairie 700 4x4 and am down to the last piece that I have not been able to locate. The front guard ( 55020-0015-UF) seems to be unavailable to ship from numerous suppliers. I haven't been able to get an answer if it is an obsolete part or if everyone is waiting for Kawasaki to ship more. I even searched Ebay for a used one to no avail. If anyone has one in good condition or knows where I can acquire one I will be forever indebted. Thanks for any thoughts all may have.

Figured it out just went with a front guard for a 2003 600 Prairie instead. I was able to get new. Why they don't make the 700 Prairie guards anymore is beyond me especially since they still have earlier Prairie guards.

I need a repair manual for a 2004 and a 2005 sportsman 90 and I found a 2006 manual for cheap money. Is it worth getting and will it cover everything for the 04 and 05

I have a 2004  Kawasaki KLF300. I’m not sure What is the black/yellow, brown, and red wire wrapped together in the wire hornets of a klf300. I got it used and notice some wires not connected. They are located in the front area

The reason why I am asking because I’m having issues with it firing up. I cleaned the carb put new spark plugs and gas.

Kawasaki Prairie 700 is the machine. It’s starts and runs but has a miss. After running it til it’s warm, it’s start smoking like your spraying for mosquitoes. Has oil in the breather also. Checked compressions and getting low 40psi both holes. I know this has a decompression lobe. Any other ideas? Leak down check? I’m guessing it pretty much has to be rings. With it blowing oil back into the breather. Normal typical sign I suppose?

I just bought this thing and got the carb all cleaned today and it was running like a champ. There was a spare hot wire hanging down that was not hooked up to anything. I found it when I took all the covers off and did the carb work. Unfortunately I forgot it as well when I fired her up after cleaning and replacing the carb. While I was running her, the wire was lying across the exhaust pipe. The exhaust got hot, melted the insulation and next thing I know I see sparks flying everywhere Bike immediately shut down and all lights went off. I have nothing on the console now when I turn the key over. I fear I have fried my ECU. I found one fuse back by the box, a 30 amp, but it was good. Are there any other fuses on these things? Is there a way to test the ECU? Could it be the rectifier or voltage regulator?
