Little help please

I hav a 2006 Yamaha Bruin 250. It was given to me in pieces(engine) got the head back on and I have a few problems.

after installing the cam gear and chain I turn the engine over back to the timing mark and my mark on the gear is 180 out.

So I reset the timing and thinking I needed to put the tensioner in and I can’t install it.

And now some how the transmission is in gear and can’t get it back in neutral.

Any ideas?

thanks in advance

Does this help?

Update. Got it back in neutral. Think I will pull the stator to reset the timing that way. Still curious about the tensioner tho.

yes after some research I found that. Thank you.

so now I have to get to the crank because I don’t understand why when I install the timing chain with cam and crank at tdc when I turn the engine over by hand back to the “T” I’m 180 out at that point

If you have the piston at TDC you should install the cam with the lobes facing down. That will put you at TDC on the compression stroke. Install the cam sprocket into the chain with the marks lining up to whatever they should line up with (different by brand), and bolt the sprocket onto the cam. Then spin it over counter-clockwise by hand and the marks should still line up. This is for all 4 strokes.

having an issue with the unit when running under a load up a hill or in high gear, seems like the belt is slipping, there is a clapping sound coming from the primary clutch like it releases and snaps back in. i don't think I should have a noise like that. this is a friends unit and he has already replaced the primary twice with the same result.
not sure where to look next

Hello, im looking for some input on this situation i have. My 94 Mojave has no spark, and i have no idea what it is. Ive replaced/tested the magneto, the pickup coil, cdi, the ignition coil. Even the key and Killswitch. I haven't tested the harness its self, but i have tried another harness and still nothing. The only thing i can think of is the fly wheel itself. I have found a lot of metal shavings in the fly wheel and have cleaned it the best I could. But nothing happened afterwards. I am truly stumped here and hoping some of yous could shed some knowledge/ideas that could help get this thing to fire.

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s

      Hi guys
My 87 Bear 350 won't start and could use a hand.
Turn key on and Oil light turns on and then slowly fades out. (I think this is key to this) No start, not even a tick.
      battery and connections good
A Solenoid post jump turns it over
Neutral Safety Switch wire attached and seems good
It has not had a wire/switch on Rear Brake Pedal ever since I had it.
Any thoughts on some other things to troubleshoot this??

Has anyone else had an issue on older king quads where the oil would leak from the top of the head (due to a failed gasket) and drip onto the hot exhaust? Mine got so hot one time it caught fire. Just wondering if this is a common issue, as I've seen the same thing happen on multiple bikes that were the same model.
