So my sister gave me her old four wheeler for my boys.  I have put new car on it among other things but I cant figure out why the cooling fan isn't working.  I took it off and connected straight to the battery and it works fine, but when I put it back in the bike  it wont work.  Im sure its electrical is there an easy way to check that.

Welcome to Quadcrazy! So that fan should only come on when the engine gets hot enough.  It not supposed to run all the time.

1. Have you ran it long enough to see if that’s the case ?

2. It’s meant to turn on by a heat sending sensor that should be screwed into the head someplace.  Should have a single wire connected to it. When the fluid in the head gets hot enough that sensor kicks in and brings the fan on and will stay on even after you turn the bike off until it’s cool.   That could be bad. If your not sure take some pics and post them and we will point it out for you. You can take it out and clean the sending unit also  making sure the head is not clogged up with sh** by the sensor.

3. Is there a light for the engine being to hot on the dash anywhere? A high temp light

4. lastly have you checked all the fuses and connections for corrosion/dirt and unplugged sprayed contact cleaner and reconnected?

Hi, I have been around everything with a motor since I was little, and finally purchased more to get my husband, and kids involved. I have 4 quads I will be searching around for information on. I have two 2002 Suzuki LT80K quads, a 1997 Yamaha Timberwolf 250, and a 1996 Kawasaki Bayou 220. I have had different ones throughout the years, and plan on buying another Yamaha Banshee. I plan on trying to learn more about all of them, so I can customize some of them. I know nothing about them besides how to race them, my dad always took care of the rest, but figured it was time for me to learn.

First post here need some help/advice. I bought a 2001 king quad 300, vin number JSAAK43A212111871. I have been trying to do some basic maintenance as it runs but doesn't idle all that well . I want to take out and clean/repair the  carb but when looking for parts it ask for model X Y K1 K2. How do I know which model I have? I have tried some vin decoders but they haven't told me. If anyone could recommend a carb rebuild kit for my quad Id appreciate it. Also any tips on tracking down an owners manual?
