Yamaha special "L" plug on head.

I have a 1998 yamaha grizzly 600 4x4 I have put back to life but as soon as I had all the bugs out it blew the special "L" plug out. What causes this? Is there something special I have to do to replace this?

Ok gotcha. Never knew the name of it. Was the head or valve covers look like they were ever taken off ? Maybe not put back in properly?

I’ve heard that in some instances  the crank case vent lines get clogged or pinched and build up pressure inside the engine pushing on them. I would make sure that the engine is vented properly and all vent hoses are clear.  

Maybe reinstall with a good gasket adhesive and let them dry for 24 hours before running.

That seems to have worked. I did just that. I  got the red high temp and put it back and started it up today and no leaks. My yard is too wet to play to much but let it run close to an hour.
