I recently acquired a non-running 1989 Big Bear. PO told me it would need a carburetor. I tinkered with the fuel system enough to get it running and drove it around enough to ensure the drive train was working (probably 1.5 - 2 miles).  A few minutes later I attempted to start it to move it back into the garage and it wouldn't fire. Checked for spark at the plug (wire held close to block) and no spark. After getting it back into the garage and checking a few things I concluded it was likely a bad CDI box. I went on line found an aftermarket box that was advertised as compatible with an 89 Big Bear. When I installed the new box, the quad still would not run but each time I hit the started button I would get a single spark (turn key off and back on . . . hit the starter button . . . another single spark).  When I got the new box I did note it was not identical to the old one(had an extra wire in one of the connectors). The part number on the box says it's a 1YW-85540-20-00. The box I took off the quad is marked 3HN-00. Which I understand after looking at a parts diagram likely means this is a 3HN-85540-00-00 CDI box.

reinstalled the old box and confirmed the quad has no spark with that box.

My question now is whether this new box will work on this quad, given the apparent part number discrepancy, or do I just have another issue somewhere in the ignition system?

Any insight would be much appreciated.

      Good Morning!
Has anyone had a problem with the small aluminum 90 degree elbow popping out of the valve cover and blowing oil all over the place? It looks like it is simply pressed in and will most certainly repeat the offense. Any experience you all can share with this issue?
      Thanks in advance.

      Hello there
I'm having a problem finding a quality carburetor for a 1993 Suzuki Quad Runner lt-f 250 2x4. I find a lot that have 3-4 star ratings. And all so far don't have the right throttle Cable inlet at the top. The last one I got 4 star on Amazon has a threaded cable sheath rest that could be partially drilled to work. I would prefer to get one I don't have to modify. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated!

I've got a 1995 220 Bayou and the electric start does not work.  When I got it the machine was pretty rough but I was told it ran less than a year ago.  The key switch had been cut off and wires  twisted after the key was lost.  I bought a new ignition switch and repaired the wiring and it is working correctly.  It is in neutral and the neutral light is on when the key is turned on but I get nothing when pressing the start button.  I verified there is no voltage going to the starter from the solenoid.  The fuse in the solenoid is good.  Something I found that is odd is that I get positive voltage(12 volts) to the brown, black, and white wires that run into the solenoid when the key is on.  That doesn't make sense to me but I could be wrong.  I would appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance.

When you and a group of friends decide you want to take a long group trip of camping/riding/overlanding, how far are you willing to drive for your trip? Right now, i find it really difficult to want to drive more than 2-3 hours one way.
