2000 Yamaha Kodiak 400 Oil Leak

Good Afternoon everyone.

 

I recently purchased a 2000 Kodiak 400 Automatic 4WD and the previous owner thought it was leaking oil in behind the primary.  Has anyone ever fixed something like this.  Tonight I plan on pulling the cover off to see just how much oil we are talking about.

I took the clutch cover off tonight and there is definitely an unacceptable amount of oil leaking into that cavity.  I think pieces 24 and 28 as seen here (https://www.motosport.com/oem-parts/yamaha/2000/kodiak-400-4x4/crankcase) are the most likely culprits.

Not familiar with it but it's probably more likely the seal than the gasket, but I'd check the bearing in there too to make sure it's not play in the shaft making the seal leak.
