Hello everyone, I just recently purchased an ATV for 60$ and after some research I have come to the conclusion that it is an 85 LT230. The previous owner says that it is seized and well now I have taken it apart and want to know what I should do to get it running.

Looks like a nice project, it depends on wheather it was seized from lack of oil or just sitting, a lot of times these things will just sit from something minor like a carb problem, hopefully its the latter, but check the oil and make sure it has some in it. Next i would quirt PB Blaster in the spark plug hole let it sit for a couple of days take the stator side cover off so you can get to the crank nut i would not put a tremendous amount of pressure there you dont want the nut to break or strip. If no luck there get a big piece of rubber wrap around the flywheel use a pipe wrench and move it back and forth and when you get movement go left when it gets tight go back to the right working it back and forth until you get a full engine revolution. If still no movement i have at a last resort take an old spark plug  break it off drill and tap to install a grease fitting fill it up with grease the pressure will break it free i very rarely do that its really messy. You can also take the head off so you can get to the piston use a 2x4 and hammer while putting pressure on the crank nut with wrench. So there are many ways to unstick an engine just depends on how stuck it is.

Opening up the head may seem intimidating at first, but there are plenty of videos and diagrams available on the internet to assist, and it isnt as bad as you might think. It also gives you a chance to go over the innards of these older machines and make sure the previous owners didnt abuse it too bad. It helps to take lots of pictures, use a cardborad box to punch your bolts into so you remember their order / placement, and have a clean work area so you can find things if dropped, etc.

I just bought a 1984 Suzuki LT185 ATV and am looking for the OWNER’S manual. ( not a service manual)
I contacted Suzuki Canada but they have no paper or digital copies in their archives.
Does anyone possibly have a digital copy they’d be willing to share?

Just wanted to drop a post to say hello. My name is Nick. I am from the Shenandoah Valley. Rockingham Va to be more specific. I am constantly working on junk or items i pick up from auction, mostly atvs but really about everything. My ATV knowledge is vast but find myself needing assistance regularly.
