Hello. I'm looking for some answers to this hopefully simple question. When I press the start button, I get this loud buzzing coming from the starter relay. I haven't ridden this beast in a couple of years, however it's been on a trckle charger the entire time. This thing has less than 2 hours on it!! I have misplaced my voltmeter and will have to go in to town to purchase another one. I wouldn't think it was the battery? But I'm new to these things. I'm mechanically inclined and refuse to take this thing in for service... heck I'm restoring a 68 Camaro in my garage! Thus the username.

Any help or direction will be greatly appreciated. I tried jumping the two main wires on the relay with no results. battery? Starter relay? When I get back from town, I'll post up the voltage at the terminals.

And while were at it, how easy is it to replace the pull starter rope? That is broken too! lol

Many thanks.

Okay update...

The battery is reading 7.3 volts! Not good. With the charger on it reads the standard 13.2 volts. I test the post at the relay and it gives me 13.2 with the charger hooked up. Should I just start with a new battery? Why wouldn't it kick over with the charger giving it 13.2 volts? When I do hit the start button the voltmeter is reading 153 volts? at the relay terminals.

Thanks.

If you use a regular battery charger with an output of 12 volts and hook it up to the atv battery and press the start button and it doesn't crank it will be your relay. between the two .If that isnt the case try this (((((((((hey check out my video on how I fixed mine.I had the same problem as you did and could not find no one online to answer my question so here it is, your welcome!!!!go to youtube channel (sublimed fixit)

It will show you exactly your problem and fix.

I am unable to find a wiring diagram for this UTV.  When I turn the switch to on, the contractor does not engage.  The Brake pressure switch and the parking brake switches work correctly. What else should I be looking for?  All of the diagrams I have found are for newer models and the wire color coding is different.

      Thanks

Hi everyone and thanks for reading.
My husband and me are getting ready to host the 2nd Quad Runners event at our nudist campground. The first one (last year) went pretty well with about 20 quads attending and have to say, it was a smaller group, but they made up for their size with the large interest in partying and there was plenty of nudity as the Saturday night went on.
We have decided to host another one this summer, but we are looking for some fun (but safe) riding events. Our grounds are almost all flat and remember we are a nudist campground so many of us are bare as* naked so "slow ride" events would be the best.
Give us your thoughts and ideas and feel free to ask us anything you would like, and we will answer right here in the thread.
Thanks for your help and ride safe.
BTW, let us know what "anything goes" means for this thread section.

      Hi all,

I am wondering if any of you have a Clutch Starter gear from a 1988 era quadrunner 250 sitting around that you could get me a precise measurement of the outer diameter of the race the sprag engages onto, for me? I need to machine a damaged race down and install a hardened sleeve and need that measurement (it's on a different gear than the OEM one, so I can't buy and use a OEM gear).

Just getting into this issue really. Been replacing solenoids but now I'd like to track down the problem. This time I'm not getting neutral/reverse lights or start button. Was on a creek ride when it started doing this recently. It cranks by arcing the solenoid and gives me no light or start button but if I crank with the pull cord....the neutral light and the button work. Turn it off and try to crank with the key and nothing. I'm looking into the safety switch issue tomorrow and re charging the battery. Just figured this was odd enough of a problem that you guys might be familiar. Thanks

Hi guys, I was given a 2000 Honda Recon fourtrax 250 (I think that's the full name lol). The previous owner had it sitting for a while before I got it. It sat for another few years in my ownership. I got it up and going on its first test drive today!! I was wondering where everyone buys their parts from?  Coming from the car community, we have sites like RockAuto and many more. Anything like that for quads? Also would like to be pointed in a direction, if possible, for plastics. I am missing a few and would like to have it complete. I appreciate any input!
