HELP!?! Early '90s LT250

Ok, so I just bought an early 90's QuadRunner. My brother and I tore the carb apart last night and cleaned it out. I mean we went all the way, cleaned out the jets, cleaned the bowl, all that good stuff. We confirmed the spark plug was good, we saw gas jetting into the carb when we tried to crank it. The engine sounds like it wants to turn over, it just doesn't.

????Similar problems????

Ok, I think I have narrowed down the problem. I replaced the spark plug, tried to crank it a few times, then removed the spark plug for inspection. It did smell like gasoline but it was bone dry. I think my intake valve is clogged or something.

I am pretty sure I am going to have to take the top end off and clean the valves. Any suggestions for what else I should do while I am in there?

check your valve clearences ...

Yep!! That did the trick. There was no play in the intake valve. I wasn't able to get the feeler gauge in there due to a bunch of stuff in the way. I was able to adjust it though and then she ROARED to life!!!

Problem though, my brother said to put some oil in the top end. Didn't seem right to me but I did and I think its dumping oil into the exhaust. Its smoking like crazy. I would have thought the top end would take oil from the system.

So question: Should I drain any remaining oil from the top end and just put a little in or leave it without oil or what? I read the repair manual and it didn't say anything about oil capacity in the top end.

Thanks in advance for any helpful info.

Oh, and I tried to remove the exhaust to flush out any oil in there but due to abuse from previous owners, I was not able to get to it without some major quad surgery. I guess Ill have to wait for it to burn out.

Hello, im looking for some input on this situation i have. My 94 Mojave has no spark, and i have no idea what it is. Ive replaced/tested the magneto, the pickup coil, cdi, the ignition coil. Even the key and Killswitch. I haven't tested the harness its self, but i have tried another harness and still nothing. The only thing i can think of is the fly wheel itself. I have found a lot of metal shavings in the fly wheel and have cleaned it the best I could. But nothing happened afterwards. I am truly stumped here and hoping some of yous could shed some knowledge/ideas that could help get this thing to fire.

I see quite a few ads for that  Tribotex additive. It's kind of expensive, has anyone used it it their ATV or any other vehicle?

If you had to choose one mod that you couldn't live without, or had to recommend one what would it be?

My uncle bought a Baja 250, 2006. Knew there was no spark since the get go. He don't know anything about quads so is getting me to help him try to get it running...

battery is bad so I connected battery charger to it to crank it over , cranks over well , but no spark ....
Lights and everything work fine , but with each crank over using the e start switch , the display reads 999 888 777 666 ... Right down to 000 and repeats itself .

He managed to get a parts bike , I changed over the CDI and the coil and the stator from the parts bike and there was another black box by the voltage regulator I changed over ... I used my multimeter to confirm as much as I could works , it's hard without knowing which wires are which , and I cannot find any diagrams online for this bike ?

Do you think it could be the Killswitch? There's so many wires coming from there I don't know where to start . Also I should mention it appears the fan on the front of the bike has been taken off (the wires have been cut too )

If this bike sparked it would run . The previous owner said he parked it one day and it just wouldn't start after.
