What manufacturer/model trike do you have?
it is an 85 kawasaki klt160. I found it was a one year only model. Parts can be had, but mainly used. Some of the parts from the bayou can be interchangeable. I had to modify a Yamaha banshee right muffler since the original can was completely rotted away. It looks cool, forestry approved and very quiet.

Awesome! I have an '85 Honda 200s. It runs, but the head is leaking. I'm going to tear it back down and see if it's warped or not. You can get OE parts from Kawi probably (I know it's expensive). Ebay works out sometimes.

I haven't gone into the dealer to check parts yet but their web page doesnt go back that far. EBay is the only place I've been able to find parts. When I first got the machine, even eBay didn't sell anything...lol hope you 200 is an easy fix. What's it leaking? Oil?

Yeah the head is leaking oil. I'm just going to get another gasket set. I'm going to get a straight edge first though and see if it's noticeably warped. If not, going to clean it better, do a dry fit and see if I can get my .002 '' feeler gauge between the gasket and jug or the gasket/head. Shouldn't be too bad.

Go to Kawasaki.com -> Owner Info -> Parts Diagrams. On that page, put in your VIN and it should bring up your bikes info. You'll be able to browse OE parts they still carry, service manual and etc. They had stuff for my '85 Bayou (ordered an OE air filter element).

Hopefully its an easy fix. If its anything like mine, should be pretty easy I'm sure. Also helps having the right tools...lol I need a valve compressor. I made due with what I have, but I'm not sure who makes one. I should check motion pro.

Got my bike back together. Runs awesome. Does not smoke one bit. Has more compression than it ever had. Pull starts real easy. Does not leak a drop except from the carb. I need an air box and carb to box tube. I wonder if the klt185 airbox would fit. I also need to change the oil and put in gear lube into the diff. But its getting to cold for my liking...lol

That's awesome! Mine is still down for now. Someone said that since I bought the valve cover for my 200s separate from the head, that the journals may not be to spec and binding a bit. That may be so, but it's not real difficult to start, so I'm not sure. The head was leaking (like before). So still have to get that off of there and see if it needs to be resurfaced or not. Then get my 2 OEM gaskets and slap it back together!

I recently read an article about restoring or at least improving the looks of faded and discolored plastic body parts. In the article it suggested using a 50/50 mixture of boiled linseed oil and paint thinner. You mix it up and apply it with a brush or rag to rub it in and remove the oxidation. I curious to find out if anyone has had experience with doing this and what was their short/long term results of doing so. I would hate to try it and find out that a few weeks/months down the road my plastic body parts self destruct.

Heres my story. Kinda long. I guess I was a late bloomer when it comes to quads. I had never ridden a quad in my life. Rode Dirt Bikes as a kid growing up. Back in Oct of '06 I found a Mustang on craigslist. Took it for a test drive one morning before work. Fast car. 351 Cleveland. I had planned on meeting the guy again after work. For some strange reason thats still to this day beyond me, I stopped in Hillsboro MotoSports on the way home from work. I had 6 Grand on me. There was a left over '05 sitting by the front door. It was on sale for $4999. It was $5499 OTD. I didnt even look at anything else. I knew nothing about quads accept I thought it really looked coool and I had the money in my pocket to buy it. I was sitting on it when the salesman walked up and asked... "Can I help you?" Without hestitation I pulled 60 Ben Franklins outta my front pocket and said "I want this Quad. Load it up in my truck." It was just about dark by the time I drove away from the shop. BTW, I didnt bother to ask my ol lady if I could buy it. LOL. Anyway, I took it by the house and showed her. She was kinda stunned but not mad. We drove over to a friend of mines house and unloaded it. I took it to the field across the street from his house. HOLY CHIT!!!!! I was surprised by the power. I had it for about 2 weeks and took it to Sand Lake. I was there a few hours and rolled it on a banked turn at the top of the bowl right before you get to the one-ways. When it rolled, I flew off and landed on my belly. The quad came bouncing and landed on my back. For a month I couldnt even walk. I was scared of it. I considered trading it for a 250EX. Went back to the shop. The salesman said..."Dude!!! You dont want a 250EX!!! Trust me. Just get used to it" I still wasnt convinced. I put it on craigslist for $4000. Calls were coming in. I had a guy that wanted to come look at it that evening. I decided to take it for one last ride at Browns Camp before I sold it. I was still afraid of it. After about 5 minutes I started feeling comfortable on it again. I decided right then, I loved my Honda 450 and would learn how to ride it instead of selling it. That was late Nov of '06. Work was slow for a Painter in Oregon. My new job everyday? Going to Browns Camp and ridding my Quad. I bought my Girl Friend an '02 Blaster. I rode my 450 for 4-6 hours almost every single day for 3 months. And yes, I know my way around Browns Camp pretty well. LOL. In March I bought her an '06 TRX250EX (Thank God I didnt trade my 450 for one of those) LOL Since then, I have become totally addicted to quads. I love them. Couldnt imagine not owning at least one quad. Luckily I have two. My "07 was $6500 OTD in July of '07. Bought it for my Girlfriend. Traded in her 250 EX. A month later we broke up. So, I wound up with two Honda 450's.

I like to ride in wooded and grassy areas. It takes my mind off the everyday routines and helps me deal with my father's cancer. Also gives me a reason to get involved with forums like this one.
