Help please! Locate VIN on Yamaha

I have recently acquired a Yamaha Big Bear 350 quad and am doing my best to confirm its year of manufacture (believed to be 87 - 94 era) but to no avail. I have read all the stuff on the web but this hasn't helped a bit. On the left side on the chassis near the front tire it has a number which is 3HN-018236. Correct me if im wrong but I believe that is the engine number. Where is the VIN please can someone help? Many thanks.

the vin will be right where your toe lands shifting gears on the bottom frame rail. it is there, very hard to see, use a flashlight. the other place the where a sticker is, is on the front of the motor rail going up to the handlebars. same side as stamped number by toe shifter. you should be able to see it while on your knees looking for the stamped number. there are no Os, just zeros, and no Is, just ones ... 17 digits, 10th is year, maybe an M,N,O or P if you think its in that era ...

Thanks for your reply. That is where I got this number from directly under my left toe (so to speak) under the gear shifter. I am at a loss I will try looking for that sticker tomorrow on the steering arm maybe. Getting frustrated! Cheers
