Help!!!

I need some help. I have a 2005 Suzuki KQ 700 with 1500 miles on it. I brought it in for a minor issue and I just received a call that the "little knocking" sound is the cam and bearings and that I will basically need a whole top end rebuild to include cylinder work, etc. He said it would be roughly $2000 maybe a little more. What would you do repair or replace the ATV? Thank you!

My wife bought it for about $5000 five years ago this month as a wedding gift. I just don't want to end up putting a bunch of money into it when it would be better off just buying a new one. He told me that the compression test came back at 130, the minimum it should be according to Suzuki is 140. It doesn't leak any fluids. I never have to top off oil or coolant. I just change the fluids when I should. It starts fine and runs fine. I took it in there to get an issue looked at, the issue that I was having is when its good and warmed up, when I come to a stop and take my thumb off the throttle to say put it in reverse, it dies instead of idling. It starts right back up and then I'm fine to go again. He told me that he couldn't replicate the problem. Then he told me that he was afraid to ride it because it was really noisy and that it needed a new cam shaft, bearings, piston work, possibly rings and maybe cylinder work. I try to learn about things as I come across them so I am not completely ignorant but I lack experience here so I thought I'd reach out. Thank you for any insight.

What kind of noise is it making? Is it at a Suzuki dealer?

Most us around here would tear into it ourselves, but it doesnt sound like you want to bother with that.

142 PSI is the standard compression per the manual. 130 isnt very bad. Might be solved by a valve adjustment. Ask them that.

Do they have the head cover off. I dont know how one can know it needs a new cam shaft and bearings if not.

I am willing to tear it open but I just have no time right now. He told me that the minimum needs to be 140. I don't think he took the head cover off. It is at a suzuki place. I am going to pick it up and bring it to the place I normally go for parts and such. It's making a little bit of a knocking noise and actually when I was doing some research on it I thought it might just be a valve adjustment. I feel a lot better after reading these posts than I did earlier today. I'll get the second opinion and then go from there. Thanks!

      Hey I have a 1997 big bear 350 4x4
I replaced the shifter shaft and the shift arm linkage and the rod when I installed them all I was unaware that you had to line the dot on the shifter shaft with the gap on the linkage arm gap put it all back  together and rode it I can't get it to shift in the right gears  I can move the shift cam by hand and goes in different gears but with the shifter shaft in it riding I can't put it in R or N
Anyone know how to line up the shifter shaft and the shift cam s

My king quad 700 runs rough when cold then won't start some times but not often when it's hot. And occasionally smoke's a lot when it's cold I'm guessing that's rings but I'm worried unless it's causing the other problems

Has anyone else had an issue on older king quads where the oil would leak from the top of the head (due to a failed gasket) and drip onto the hot exhaust? Mine got so hot one time it caught fire. Just wondering if this is a common issue, as I've seen the same thing happen on multiple bikes that were the same model.

My 2014 750 king quad stalls sometimes when I touch or turn the handlebars, the problem has gotten worse,my machine has 475 miles and is only trail ridden,I have a new factory battery and i have 14.2 volts when the quad is running and 13.3 on the battery when not running, also using a multimeter there is no change in volts when turning the bars until it does stall,If I pull the 40 amp power steering fuse it will not stall.......I've been told its the ECU,Hate to buy one if thats not the problem, but its kinda leaning towards that,,,,,need some opinions.
